Few questions – interview with GRAVEBOMB 

Ave, can you introduce your band to our readers? – When was it founded and what style of music do you play , etc. ? 

We started around winter 1,5 years ago, after Patrik and Petter talked about starting an old school swedish death metal band together. We wanted to make music with the 90's Stockholm sound, but make it our own way. We love the brutality of it mixed with lyrics and melodies you can actually remember and sing along to. 

Where and under what conditions were you recording the new album? Who was in charge of sound, production and mastering? 

We were recording at Fvck Life Studios in Trollhättan (which has since been closed down), because Fred there had made a really awesome job on Aggrenation's latest album. We wanted to get that same dirty, unwashed sound rather than the really clean production that has become more and more popular withing metal nowadays. Fred was also the one to do the mixing of the album. The mastering was done by no one less than Tomas at Sunlight Studio!

How many copies were released and which medium was used for this new edition (CD, digital, vinyl, cassette)? 

All in all​it will be about 1500 CDs and 500 LPs released through different indie labels in a few weeks, but for now it's a digital release. 

Who is the author of the lyrics and how were they created and about what do the lyrics deal with ? 

Mostly Petter and Patrik write the lyrics, and honestly we just try to write about badass things like cannibals, beheadings, burning churches and even Star Trek. As long as it's over the top and gory we will write about it and make it work!

Who created the logo of the band, and who took care of the graphics and the website? What about you and social networks? Do you consider these things important? 

Patrik has his own graphic design studio called Chainsaw Design that makes all our art, the logo, album cover and so on. We think social media is important mostly because that's how fans contact us, and we always wanna talk to them and hear what they think. 

Which label did you choose for releasing your album and why this label? Are you satisfied by how your label represents you and takés care about you? 

We have chosen to release it ourselves on Spotify and iTunes because we grew impatient and wanted to get our music out there. Really the labels we have chose us sort of, and while we are still in the process of getting it released in physical mediums we are very happy so far.

Which bands do you idolise and where do you get your inspiration? 

Obviously Morbid Angel and Autopsy, Entombed, Dismember, Asphyx and other oldschool bands, but also newer ones like Bloodbath and Hail of Bullets to name some. But The Crown is the absolute biggest inspiration when we write lyrics. They have always been the masters of balancing between completely ridiculous lunacy and absolute badassery! 

Did you send your record to some Labels ­ which are the labels? How was the response? 

We sent it out to all the death metal indie labels we could think of, and the responsen have been overwhelmingly positive. We are still negotiating with a few, but we will release the album through Sound of Records, Magik Art and Morbid Bastard to name some. 

How many gigs have you played? Which type of gigs do you prefer, whether it's (clubs or festivals) and which of your performances would you consider as the best? 

We have only played a few gigs so far, mostly we have been writing, rehearsing and producing. But our most fun gig was definitely last summer with Entrails, Nominon and Void in Växjö. Really nice guys and we got Penki from Entrails (and Void) to come up and do vocals for us on the last song which was a cover of Eaten by Bloodbath. Great times!

What about your plans for the future? What do you want to achieve with the band? 

We hope to get out on the road in Europe, hopefully with some other bands from the same genre. I don't know if we have any real plans other than make more music and have as many people as possible listen to our music. We have gotten a few suggestions from other bands to do splits with them so who know what the future holds!
