EXORCIZPHOBIA hlásí další nahrávky. Minialbum a split!
Od vydání posledního alba Exorcizphobie "Digitotality", kterému se dostalo velice kladného přijetí od fanoušků i médií, se banda mosh z Krkonoš hlásí s dalším studiovým počinem. Nepůjde o další řadové album, ale o EP "Friend Of Lunacy" a následně na něj naváže split s kostarickou thrashmetalovou bandou Heresy.
Proč právě kapela ze Střední Ameriky? "S Heresy už se nějaký čas známe a chováme vzájemné sympatie. Společné splitko jsme domluvili v zimě 2019, kdy jsme byli na společném turné v Rumunsku," říká šéf Exorcizphobie a její zakládající člen Tomáš "Skoří" Skořepa.
Kapela je rozjetá a plná nespoutané energie, kterou chce dostávat ven formou skládání nového materiálu. Na chystaných novinkách nenajdete žádné věci, které prostě zbyly po nahrávání Digitotality. "Jde čistě o nový materiál. Songy byly vytvořeny speciálně pro split s Heresy. Časem se vše vyprofilovalo tak, že nejprve vznikne EP protknuté lejtmotivem legendárního filmu 12 opic a split bude následovat," pokračuje Skoří.
Na nahrávce zanechal výraznou stopu také Bilos, frontman spřátelených Malignant Tumour. Od této bandy uslyšíte cover "Missing Rebellion", jenž zazněl naživo i s Bilosem při nedávném opožděném křtu Digitotality. "Bilos také celý materiál produkoval. Nahrávalo se na jaře 2021 v Davosu za dozoru mistra Otyna," říká a doplňuje, že pro kapelu je momentálně hlavním tématem hledání vydavatele. "Doufáme, že Friend Of Lunacy a následný split s Heresy poslouží jako slibný začátek spolupráce."
Jako ochutnávku Exorcizphobia v minulých dnech vypustila do světa singl "Stuck Between Realities", celé EP vyjde digitálně 22. července.
Zpočátku to bývá šok, když přijdeš do márnice a na stolech leží mrtvá těla. Ale zvykneš si. Stejně jako na divný pach, který smrt provází. Několik temných nocí a také začneš rozmlouvat s mrtvými. Jako každý, kdo měl co do činění s pravým death metalem. Americké maniaky CEREBRAL ROT sleduji od jejich začátků. Už jsme spolu zažili mnoho exhumací. Jedná se o smečku, která přesně pochopila, o čem je pravý smrtící kov. O chladu a nicotě, o ranní mlze na hřbitově, o šepotu nemrtvých.
Konzervace mojí mysli proběhla, alespoň co se hudby týká, v osmdesátých a devadesátých letech minulého století. Na výlet do časů, kdy byl svět ještě v pořádku, vás vezmou i CEREBRAL ROT. Tady se hraje pro všechny staré archeology, kteří stále pátrají po smyslu smrti. Songy se vám zadřou velmi brzy pod kůží, zhnisají a zůstanou tam do té doby, dokud zaživa neshnijete.
CEREBRAL ROT pořádají opět rituály v rytmu třeba takových AUTOPSY, INCANTATION, DEMILICH, XYSMA, CARCASS, CIANIDE. Deska samozřejmě mnohým vůbec vonět nebude, protože (a to je prostým faktem), podobných smeček je poslední roky kolem velká spousta. CEREBRAL ROT jsou ale přeci jen v něčem trošku odlišní. Mají dobré nápady, zvuk, zajímavý obal, ale hlavně jejich nové desce "Excretion of Mortality" věřím, užívám si ji. Musela totiž opravdu vznikat na opuštěném hřbitově, v temných katakombách nebo v márnicích, kde se občas dějí hodně podivné věci. Songy smrdí zkaženým masem, drtí žebra na prach. Vše je v nejlepším pořádku. Včera byla bouřka, která lámala stromy. Hřbitov je poničen a spousta náhrobků vyvrácena. Musel jsem si album "Excretion of Mortality" znovu pustit. Zombie u jeho poslechu lezou z děr. Sápou se mi po krku a já rád podléhám. Někteří lidé jsou mrtví i za svého života. Pro ně je deska určena, stejně jako pro všechny prokleté. Američané odvedli dobrou hrobnickou práci. Takhle nějak musí chutnat zkažená krev. Prašivý, mokvající a morbidní death metal, který odtrhává maso od kostí!

It really had to take place in an abandoned cemetery, in dark catacombs or in mortuaries, where a lot of strange things sometimes happen. Songs stinks of rotten meat, crushing ribs to dust. Everything is fine. Yesterday was a storm breaking trees. The cemetery is damaged and many tombstones are destroyed. I had to play "Excretion of Mortality" again. Zombies crawl out of holes while listening to it. They slap my throat and I like to succumb. Some people are dead during their lifetime. The album is for them, as well as for all the cursed ones. The Americans did a good grave work. This is how rotten blood must taste. Dusty, soaking and morbid death metal that tears meat from bones!
O některých pasážích se mi několikrát zdálo. Natolik jsem se do nové knihy mého oblíbence Tima Weavera ponořil. Rebeca zůstala sama na opuštěném ostrově. Je to silná žena, přesně takové mám rád. Chytrá, rozumná a zažívá věci, které by nedal kdejaký chlap. Děj je tentokrát trošku nepřehledný, ale jenom z počátku. Taky jsem někde četl, že v knize není David Raker. Omyl, to víte že se objeví, ale nebudu vám říkat kdy. Autor sám o téhle knize píše, že je takovým předvojem, že už má napsané i pokračování.
Mě se hrozně líbí styl, jakým Tim vypráví. Sympatický mi je i vyšetřující detektiv, který se více ke slovu dostane až v druhé půlce knížky. Zmizení, násilí, lidský hnus, tohle všechno jsou hlavní témata příběhu, ale pro mě osobně je to nejvíc samota. Právě v kapitolách, když mluví Rebeca sama se sebou, když se na ostrově ochladí, když objeví konečně něco k jídlu, jsou Ztracené střípky nejsilnější.
Tim Weaver je trošku jiný autor. V jeho knihách nenaleznete tolik mrtvol, ale zase jsou více psychologicky propracované. Navíc má tu obrovskou výhodu, že mu všechno věřím. Ano, tohle se může v dnešním světě opravdu stát. Musíte mít sice alespoň trošku nějakou fantazii, ale já si novinku opravdu užíval. Můj oblíbenec pracuje s myšlenkou, že každý má nějaké temné tajemství. To nejdříve pobublává v pozadí, sem tam vypluje na povrch, aby se nakonec vrátilo v plné síle.
Knihu jsem četl převážně v noci a druhý den byl v práci chvílemi úplně mimo. Pořád jsem přemýšlel, těšil se, vytvářel si v hlavě různé verze, kam bude děj směřovat. Pro mě je zrovna tohle jeden z důkazů, že se jedná o opravdu skvělou knihu. Třeba se bude líbit i vám. Má v sobě totiž něco navíc, kus temnoty, záhadnosti. Nechte si chutnat přátelé!
NEZNÁ SVÉ NEJTEMNĚJŠÍ TAJEMSTVÍ. ALE NĚKDO JINÝ ANO. A CHCE SE JÍ ZBAVIT…
Rebeka Murphyová je od rozchodu s manželem na všechno sama a náročná práce v nemocnici a výchova dvou malých dcer si na ní začíná vybírat svou daň. Proto se Rebeka rozhodne na jeden den všeho nechat a doprovodit bratra Johnnyho na pracovní výlet na odlehlý ostrůvek sto šedesát dva kilometrů od pevniny. Jenže jeden den se protáhne na pět měsíců.
Rebeka s Johnnym se hodinu po příjezdu na ostrov stanou oběťmi útoku. Po bratrovi se slehne zem a Rebeku nechá útočník na místě v domnění, že je mrtvá. Než se jí podaří dostat zpět do přístavu, je už pozdě… Sezóna skončila, poslední trajekt odplul a ostrov zůstal opuštěný. Na pět měsíců.
Rebeka si záhy uvědomí, že bratrovo zmizení je pouze jedním z jejích mnoha problémů. Nemá loď, telefon ani na koho se obrátit, a návratem do civilizace její noční můra ani zdaleka nekončí.
Někdo tam na ni totiž čeká – a ten někdo si nepřeje, aby se vrátila domů živá…

Ave CADAVERIC INCUBATOR! Greetings to the Finnish underground. Before we look at your album, I have to thank you. I first heard the news "Nightmare Necropolis" once on Friday, when I left totally upset from work. You know, everything fell on me. The people around me seemed dumb and stupid. I had a hundred appetites to put the speakers against them and put your music out loud. You made an album which breaks bones! How and where did you want to move against the previous album "Sermons of the Devouring Dead"? The new album seems rawer, wilder to me.
Easy there Jakub, we wouldn't be happy if a good man like you lost your job because of us! Though I must say that is pretty much the desired effect we want to bring up with our recordings. Extreme aggression. Too bad a lot of current death metal bands have forgotten all about that! We might go a bit more mellow occasionally too to spice up the atmosphere but a proper death metal record needs to make you want to crush some poser jaws, no way around this fact! I dont think the two albums are very different but the terms you used - more raw and wild - are pretty accurate in what we were aiming at.
Not to forget, could you please introduce your band to us? Honest fans of death metal and grind probably know you, but for others. Please guide us through the history of CADAVERIC INCUBATOR? How did you get together and why did you choose this style of music?
I would say its more like the style choosing us and not the other way since we fell under the death metal spell very early in our lives back in early 90s already. It's not like its the only music we like, far from it, but as long as playing activities goes, somehow it always turns back to death metal in the end. We wanted to take things back to very primitive and raw when starting Cadaveric in 2004. A 7-years hiatus (2007-2014) and several lineup changes later, the latest formation - myself on guitars/vocals, Noisehunter on bass and Pentele on drums - that we have had for the past 4 years is easily the one that has worked the best.
Let's go to the news. Probably everyone who discovers some new music can also tell that the cover sells. It was created by Tommi Grönqvist from the great DESECRESY (ex SLUGATHOR). I didn't even know he is painting the covers. Why him and what is the motive to represent? I really like similar black and white drawings, so I immediately ordered a T-shirt.
If Tommi's artworks are new thing to you, I guess you just didn't pay attention earlier then as he is also responsible for all the Slugathor and Desecresy artworks too since the beginning. I got to know his style due to the several years I spent playing together with him in Slugathor so it was a natural choice to request him work for Cadaveric too when we started. It's easy, we just give some very basic guidelines and after thats its really just free hands for him to work on something that suits our morbid tunes. All we want is the cover to look like how it sounds and vice versa.
As I mentioned, the songs literally crush my bones. Sound contributes a lot to that. It's dirty, raw, reminiscent of a bulldozer in office in a cemetery. Tell us where you recorded, who is signed to mastering and mixing? I always remember listening to old CARCASS, AUTOPSY, MORTICIAN. Did you plan to sound "similar"?
We worked again with the same guy from Audioholic Studios who already did our first album and few EPs earlier. Drums were recorded in this very spacious 100 years old log house to try have them sound natural as possible. Everything else then at few different locations. We don't intend to sound like anyone else on purpose but of course those names you mention have been some of our ultimate faves for three decades already so of course the influence is there, we want it or not.
What are the lyrics at "Nightmare Necropolis" about? Is it a death grind classic - graves, bones, skulls, cemeteries? Or are you trying to convey something with them - a message? Who is the author?
I did all the lyrics for the new album, except for World Necrosis which was written by Mr. Rektor from Finland's sleaziest - Axeslaughter!! You won't find any messages or revelations in the lyrics, it's just pure horror worship basically. Just as with the artwork I want the lyrics to match how the music sounds like, no fancy shit here really, just death metal lyrics for death metal music.
My favourite question and I think readers too. How do CADAVERIC INCUBATOR create new songs? Who is the author of the basic motifs? Is everything created in the rehearsal room? I would be interested in the process of composing new songs.
I have this horrible habit of getting most of the riff ideas always somewhere out on road, at work or something like that so my phone is flooded with retarded humming and whistling and whatever that I then try to intepret later at home with guitar figuring out what the fuck was I thinking. I make most of the songs and then just bring them to practise where we mould them together. No progamming or filesharing or anything like that, just practise and practise together the old school way, its the only way we know.
One thing bothers me a little. You're from Finland and I'm watching your scene in pretty close detail. Most young underground death metal bands play very darkly, coldly and at the same time their music has a certain melancholy in it. For me, it's a hallmark of Finnish bands (at least that's how I perceive it). But you are completely different! Raw, uncompromising. Your colleagues INFERIA used to play at our festival and they had a very similar feeling. Do you feel music differently? Did you have other patterns?
I don't know man, we just play whatever comes naturally and dont waste time thinking what we "should do" or some nonsense like that. I'd say our music is pretty dark sounding too, at least that's what has been sort of our guideline since beginning - to be brutal, raw and aggressive but to have the morbid and evil edge to it the same time for the ultimate poser repelling result! Inferia are cool dudes, we shared stages many times and yeah they always crush live although I must say the whole porn grind thing feels a bit silly to me so I personally like more their early stuff when it was more straight up death metal.
Everyone somehow started, learned, discovered. CADAVERIC INCUBATOR are a band of experienced musicians. But what were your beginnings? What was the first impulse to pick up an instrument, what bands did you listen to as a young man?
I got into the heavy music very early due to my older brother's record collection so first it was the ususal KISS, Maiden, Mötley Crue, WASP etc corrupting the young mind. Then mostly through Venom to the deep end towards anything more heavy, fast and evil. It was in 1990 when I then formed my first band Apoplexy, first to play covers of Sodom, Metallica and such and trying to come up own songs later on then, We didnt know how to play anything when starting and just randomly picked the instruments. I ended up with guitar just because it was the last thing left.
You have released your second album on the excellent Hells Headbangers Records. Great choice! The novelty came out as a cassette, CD and digitally. But what about vinyl? What is your relationship to music media? Are you a collector? Do you support bands?
Very pleased with our collaboration with Hells Headbangers this far yes. The vinyl is coming of course, it's at the press but the lines at vinyl factories are mind blowing these days so it's just delayed for few more months still. I've been collector my whole life yes. Though I have been downsizing my collection for the last few years as I try mostly just stick to the essentials these days. But as a rule, in my house the physical format still is the king and always will be!
I'm always interested in what the underground is like in the country where the band comes from. How are Finland and death metal? Do people go to concerts a lot? Do they buy albums, merchandise? How can you describe concert in Finland, for example, which you consider very successful?
It's pretty good the local support here the past few years. Quite ok gig turnouts and merch sales. Death metal seems to be the cool thing everywhere globally now and Finland is no exception. It sure was not like this always I can tell you!!! Our underground shows here are usually a bit more of mixed bag of genres put together so not just strickly one style bands lineups and I guess most people here (myself included) find that way to be much more interesting.
The world is still limited by the COVID, but it already looks like maybe it will be better. What about you and the concerts? How important are they to you? Do you enjoy big festivals or small clubs? What about some tour? For example, Obscene Extreme would be an ideal festival for you!
I would say we are definetely a live band and I guess judging by the reaction most of the times, not especially sucking at it! It's been mostly one-off dates, festivals and smaller tours this far as we have all sorts of boring adult life obstacles on the way making the more extensive touring a bit difficult but we're always up for the challenge when cool occasion shows up! Big stage, small stage or no stage at all, doesnt matter as long as the crowd is right. Sure, we'll come to Obscene whenever they will bring us. Hear that, Curby???
By the end... let me one slightly philosophical question. What does music mean to you? How would you define death metal, grindcore. Is it a relaxation or lifestyle for you?
Music is life and a lifestyle for sure. Would be pretty fucking dull life without it is all I can say. I can't say I listen only death metal or even any metal at all most of the time but sure, as said its been so long time with me already so I dont see how that would ever change really.
Please tell us what CADAVERIC INCUBATOR are planning in the coming months?
We are now finishing some new recordings so a new EP and bunch of splits are being worked on right now. Will announce all of those when the time is right but for now just letting you know that new material is well on the way. What else is there to do now anyway when we can't go out and play so lets just contaminate the earth with more Cadaveric noise pollution for the time being, right?

Ave CADAVERIC INCUBATOR! Zdravím do finského podzemí. Ještě než se podíváme na vaše album, tak vám musím poděkovat. Novinku „Nightmare Necropolis“ jsem slyšel poprvé jednou v pátek, když jsem šel totálně naštvanej z práce. Znáš to, všechno na mě padalo. Lidi kolem mi připadali tupí a hloupí. Měl jsem sto chutí postavit repráky proti nim a dát pořádně vaši hudbu nahlas. Povedla se vám deska, která láme kosti! Jak a kam jste se chtěli posunout proti předchozímu albu „Sermons of the Devouring Dead“? Mě připadá novinka surovější, divočejší.
Nebyli bychom rádi, kdyby kvůli nám přišel dobrý člověk, jako jsi ty Jakube, o práci! I když musím říct, že to je do značné míry požadovaný efekt, který chceme svými nahrávkami vyvolat - extrémní agresivita. Škoda, že spousta současných death metalových kapel na to všechno zapomněla! Mohli bychom občas také trochu zjemnit, abychom okořenili atmosféru, ale správná death metalová nahrávka vás musí přimět k tomu, abyste chtěli rozdrtit čelisti pozérum, o tom není pochyb! Nemyslím si, že se tato dvě alba velmi liší, ale termíny, které jsi použili - surovější a divočejší - jsou docela přesné v tom, kam jsme mířili.
Abych nezapomněl, mohl bys nám prosím vaši kapelu představit? Poctiví fanoušci death metalu a grindu vás asi znají, ale pro ostatní. Proveď nás prosím historií CADAVERIC INCUBATOR? Jak jste se dali dohromady a proč právě tenhle styl hudby?
Řekl bych, že je to spíš styl, který si nás vybírá, a ne naopak, protože jsme podlehli death metalovému kouzlu velmi brzy v našich životech, už na počátku 90. let. Není to jediná hudba, kterou máme rádi, to zdaleka ne, ale pokud jde o hudební aktivity, nakonec se to vždycky vrátí zpět k death metalu. Když jsme zakládali Cadaveric v roce 2004, chtěli jsme se vrátit zpět k velmi primitivním a surovým věcem. Sedmiletá pauza (2007–2014) a později několik změn v sestavě, nejnovější formace - já kytara / zpěv, Noisehunter na basu a Pentele na bicí – kterého máme poslední 4 roky a je ten, který funguje nejlépe.
Pojďme k novince. Asi každý, kdo objeví nějakou novou muziku, i já dám hodně na cover, Říká se, že obal prodává. Pro novinku „Nightmare Necropolis“ jej vytvořil Tommi Grönqvist ze skvělých DESECRESY (ex SLUGATHOR). Ani jsem nevěděl, že maluje obaly. Proč právě on a co má vlastně motiv znázorňovat? Mám podobné černobílé kresby moc rád, proto jsem si taky ihned objednal triko.
Pokud jsou pro vás Tommiho umělecká díla neznámá, myslím, že jsi tomu nevěnoval dříve pozornost, protože je autorem všech obalů Slugathor a Desecresy už od začátku. Poznal jsem jeho styl díky několika letům, které jsem s ním strávil hraním ve Slugathor, takže bylo přirozenou volbou požádat ho, aby pracoval i pro Cadaveric, když jsme začínali. Je to snadné, dáme mu jen několik velmi základních pokynů a poté má opravdu volné ruce, aby mohl pracovat na něčem, co se hodí k našim morbidním melodiím. Chceme, aby obal vypadal tak, jak to zní, a naopak.
Jak už jsem zmiňoval, songy mi doslova drtí kosti. Hodně k tomu přispívá zvuk. Je špinavý, surový, připomíná buldozer, který úřaduje na hřbitově. Prozraď nám, kde jste nahrávali, kdo je podepsán pod masteringem a mixem? Vždycky si vzpomenu při poslechu na staré CARCASS, AUTOPSY, MORTICIAN. Chtěli jste znít „podobně“?
Znovu jsme pracovali se stejným chlápkem ze společnosti Audioholic Studios, který již dříve udělal naše první album a několik EP. Bicí byly nahrávány v tomto velmi prostorném, sto let starém srubu, pokusili jsme se, aby zněly co nejpřirozeněji. Vše ostatní se nahrávalo pak na několika různých místech. Nemáme v úmyslu znít jako kdokoli jiný záměrně, ale samozřejmě ta jména, která zmiňuješ, jsou již po tři desetiletí naše nejoblíbenější kapely, takže vliv tu samozřejmě existuje, ať chceme nebo ne.
O čem jsou texty na „Nightmare Necropolis“? Je to death grindová klasika - hroby, kosti, lebky, hřbitovy? Nebo se jimi snažíte i něco sdělit, předat nějaké poselství? Kdo je autorem?
Napsal jsem všechny texty pro nové album, kromě skladby World Necrosis, kterou napsal Mr.Rektor z finských - Axeslaughter!! V textech nenajdeš žádné zprávy ani poselství, v zásadě jde pouze o čisté uctívání hororu. Stejně jako u uměleckých děl chci, aby texty odpovídaly tomu, jak zní hudba, ve skutečnosti zde nejsou žádné zábavné sračky, jen death metalové texty pro death metalovou hudbu.
Má oblíbená otázka a myslím, že čtenářů taky. Jak tvoří CADAVERIC INCUBATOR nové skladby? Nech prosím nahlédnout do vaší kuchyně. Kdo je autorem základních motivů? Vzniká vše ve zkušebně? Zajímal by mě samotný proces skládání nových songů.
Mám hrozný zvyk, že většina rifů a nápadů mě zastihne někde po cestě, na silnici, v práci nebo něco takového, takže můj telefon je zaplaven bzučením, pískáním a čímkoliv, co se později pokouším interpretovat doma s kytarou a zjistit, co jsem tím kurva myslel. Tvořím většinu skladeb a pak je jen přinesu do zkušebny, kde je formujeme dohromady. Žádné programování ani sdílení souborů, nic podobného, prostě po staru jen cvičíme a cvičíme, to je jediný způsob, který známe.
Trošku mi vrtá hlavou jedna věc. Jste z Finska a já vaši scénu docela podrobně sleduji. Většina mladých undergroundových death metalových skupin hraje hodně temně, studeně a zároveň má jejich hudba v sobě určitou melancholii. Pro mě je to poznávací znak finských kapel (alespoň tak to vnímám). Vy jste ale úplně jiní! Suroví, syroví, nekompromisní. U nás kdysi hráli na festivalu vaši kolegové INFERIA a ti měli hodně podobný feeling. Cítíte hudbu jinak? Měli jste jiné vzory?
Nevím člověče, jen hrajeme to, co přirozeně přichází a neztrácíme čas přemýšlením, co bychom „měli dělat“ nebo podobnými nesmysly. Řekl bych, že i naše hudba zní docela temně, přinejmenším to je od začátku něco, jako naše směrnice - být brutální, surový a agresivní, ale zároveň mít morbidní a zlou hranu, aby to ve výsledku odpuzovalo pozéry! INFERIA jsou skvělí týpci, mnohokrát jsme s nimi sdíleli pódium a jo, vždycky to na živo rozsekali, i když musím říct, že celá porno grindová scéna mi připadá trochu hloupá, takže osobně se mi líbí víc jejich ranné věcí, když to byl ještě upřímný death metal.
Každý nějak začínal, učil se, objevoval. CADAVERIC INCUBATOR jsou kapelou ze zkušených muzikantů. Jaké ale byly vaše začátky? Co bylo prvním impulsem, že si vzal do ruky nástroj, jaké smečky si jako mladý poslouchal?
K hudbě jsem se dostal velmi brzy díky sbírce nahrávek mého staršího bratra, takže nejprve to byly klasici jako KISS, Maiden, Mötley Crue, WASP atd., Kteří zkazili mladou mysl. Pak to pokračovalo přes Venom, až k hlubokému konci směrem ke všemu hutnějšímu, rychlejšímu a ďábelštějšímu. Bylo to v roce 1990, kdy jsem pak založil svou první kapelu Apoplexy, nejprve jsem hrál covery Sodom, Metallica a podobně a později jsem se snažil přijít s vlastními skladbami, nevěděli jsme, jak hrát, když jsme začínali a jen jsme si náhodně vybrali nástroje. Skončil jsem u kytary jen proto, že to bylo to poslední, co zbylo.
Už druhé album jste vydali u vynikajících Hells Headbangers Records. Skvělá volba! Novinka vyšla jako kazeta, CD a digitálně. Ale co vinyl, nechystáte? Jaký je vlastně tvůj vztah k hudebním nosičům? Jsi sběratel? Podporuješ kapely?
Ano, velmi mě těší naše spolupráce s Hells Headbangers. Vinyl je samozřejmě na cestě, je v lisu, ale ve vinylových továrnách jsou v dnešní době fronty, takže se to ještě o několik měsíců odkládá. Celý život jsem sběratel. Nicméně jsem posledních několik let zmenšoval svou sbírku, protože se snažím většinou držet jen základů. Ale je pravidlem, že u mě doma převládají fyzické formáty a vždycky to tak bude.
Vždycky mě zajímá, jaký je underground v zemi, ze které kapela pochází. Jak je na tom Finsko a death metal? Chodí lidé hodně na koncerty? Kupují nosiče, merchandise? Jak probíhá třeba koncert ve Finsku, který považujete za hodně povedený?
Lokální podpora je v posledních několika letech poměrně dobrá. Docela dobrá je i návštěvnost a prodeje merche. Death metal se zdá být “cool” po celém světě a Finsko není výjimkou. Určitě to tak nebylo vždy, to ti mohu říct!!! Naše undergroundové koncerty jsou zde obvykle mix několika různých žánrů dohromady, takže nejde jen o line-upy kapel striktně jednoho žánru a myslím, že většina lidí zde (včetně mě) považuje tento způsob za mnohem zajímavější.
Svět je pořád omezený covidem, ale už to vypadá, že snad bude lépe. Co vy a koncerty? Jak jsou pro vás důležité? Baví vás spíš velké festivaly nebo malé kluby? Co nějaké turné, bude? Třeba Obscene Extreme by pro vás byl ideální festival!
Řekl bych, že jsme definitivně kapelou na živé hraní, soudě podle reakcí po většinu času! Byly to většinou jednorázové akce, festivaly a menší turné, protože nám v cestě stojí nejrůznější otravné překážky dospělého života, což nám trochu ztěžuje rozsáhlejší turné, ale přijmeme výzvu, když se objeví skvělá příležitost! Velké pódium, malé pódium nebo vůbec žádné, na tom nezáleží, pokud jsou fanoušci v pohodě. Jasně, přijdeme na Obscene, kdykoliv nás pozvou. Slyšíš to, Čurby???
Na závěr si dovolím jednu trošku filozofickou otázku. Co pro tebe znamená hudba? Jak bys definoval death metal, grindcore. Je to pro tebe odpočinek, relax nebo životní styl?
Hudba je život a určitě životní styl. Byl by to zasraně nudný život bez toho všeho, to mohu říct. Ale nemohu říci, že většinu času poslouchám pouze death metal nebo dokonce jakýkoli metal, ale jak už bylo řečeno, je to se mnou už tak dlouho, že si nemyslím, že by se to vůbec někdy mohlo změnit.

Dokončujeme několik nových nahrávek, takže právě teď se pracuje na novém EP a několika split albech. Co jiného je teď možné dělat, když nemůžeme vyrazit ven a hrát, tak pojďme zatím jen kontaminovat zemi více Cadaverickým hlukovým znečištěním, což?

Francouzští death metalisté NEPHREN-KApokračují ve své brutální jízdě i letos. Mám tuhle smečku moc rád. Sleduji ji sice teprve od minulé desky "La grande guerre de l'épice" (2017), ale neskutečně si jejich tvorbu užívám. Navíc, Frank Herbert a jeho dílo Duna patří k mým oblíbeným. Boj o vodu dávno začal, jen si to někteří z nás ještě neuvědomují.
NEPHREN-KA hrají i letos velmi brutálně, surově. Mají dobrý zvuk, zajímavý obal a stylově lze novinku opět přirovnat k nejlepším deskám od kapel jako SUFFOCATION, ORIGIN, NILE, HATE ETERNAL. Songy jsou opravdu velmi dobře napsány, obsahují velkou sílu, drive, takovou tu pradávnou temnou energii, kterou v sobě měly staré smečky. Když se podívám večer na zprávy, tak si říkám, že naše planeta poslední dobou trpí hlavně naší hloupostí a neznalostí. Jakoby se předpovědi klasických sci-fi autorů odehrávaly právě teď a tady. Možná už je apokalypsa za dveřmi. Stačí málo a budou otevřeny. Až se tak stane, tak nám k tomu bude hrát v rozhlase "From Agony to Transcendence". Celé album, jako nějaký zabijácký jed, prostupují černé, chladné vibrace. Nahrávka není rozhodně záležitostí na jeden poslech. Vyplatí se vydržet, několikrát se vrátit a budete odměněni skvělým zážitkem. Alespoň já jsem to tak praktikoval a stále odkrývám další a další vrstvy a zajímavé momenty. Skladby jsou možná někdy trošku komplikovanější, ale nebojte se, stále si zachovávají démonický výraz. Strach zabíjí myšlení. Strach je malá smrt přinášející naprosté vyhlazení. Budu svému strachu čelit. Dovolím mu, aby prošel kolem mne a skrze mne. NEPHREN-KA budu poslouchat stále dál, stále znovu. Jedná se totiž o brutální death metal té nejvyšší kvality! Masakr!

French death metallers NEPHREN-KA continue their brutal ride this year as well. I really like this band. Although I have been following them since the last album "La grande guerre de l'épice" (2017), I really enjoy their work. In addition, Frank Herbert and his work “Dune” are among my favourites. NEPHREN-KA are playing very brutally and cruelly again this year. Ave HAUNTED! On Juny 18, 2021 you released your new album "The Book of Flames ". As the name suggests, it is again a whirlwind of honest blackh and old death metal. When did you go out of studio, how did you feel? Introduce a little bit your new album to your fans. What are HAUNTED in 2021?
We were very satisfied with the Legions Of Maleficence album. When writing The Book Of Flames I was very worried about the second album flop syndrome so many bands seem to suffer from. In the early stages of writing it seemed warranted. I was adamant that I wanted to show growth in the song writing and adamant that I wanted this album to be better. Some of the songs were very old and from the unreleased version of The Book Of Flames. These songs were all updated and coupled together with new compositions. Through persistance and hard work the bridge was eventually gapped and I knew we had Legions beat. We left the studio confident in that. I’m sure the same feel of wanting to top The Book Of Flames will occur again when writing starts for Book 3 Inseminating The Seraphim. I certainly hope it does, because it acts as an impetus to push yourself and grow as a writer and as a band.
I have your new album home for review. So far, I don't listen it so much yet, but what I have heard so far has swept me and I sit on my ass. I've always like on your band that you are not just orthodox and true, but you do not forget even on the cold and dark melodies. Who is the author of the music and how do you compose and create new HAUNTED songs?
I, Serpentilius am the writer. I approach everything with a desire to mood set. Do I want to explore the Sinister and Evil ? The Brutal and Relentless ? The Eerie and Dark ? HAUNTED has always been about creating a mood. Those moods are always floating through my head, those are the moods I explore and those moods encompass the song writing like ingredients in a recipe. A heavy dose of evil, mix in something creepy add a pinch of brutality. Stir it all together. Taste it and see what you have. Adjust accordingly.
I really enjoyed a very raw and "mangy" sound on the new album. Where did you record and mix the album and who is signed under the production?
We returned to The Porch Studios with Kevin Tuck as our engineer. Kevin did the Legions album. Kevin and I have a long standing relationship and have been working on various recordings for quite sometime now. I enjoy his critical ear and attention to detail. Not too mention I really like him as a person and it’s important to work with people you like.
I am also interested about the cover of the album. If I understand it well, so it is a scene from an old occult book. Cover is hell, dark and mysterious like your new album. What does this idea mean? And who painted it?
I actually can not reveal who did the art, because of the laws of his country. He was very adamant he not be identified to avoid prosecution. All our art concepts I develop carefully and then pass them along to someone who can actually execute the idea. My elementary stick figure-esque musing are the stuff of many a preschool daycare center.
As a band, you are dealing with satanism, occultism, death, violence. What are the lyrics about on the new recording? What is the main theme and idea of "The Book of Flames "?
This album acts as the sequel to Legions. The Legions Of Maleficence now summoned by the Necromancer invade empyrean and ultimately behead Christ. Book 3 will deal with the soft genocide of the Factions Of The Light through insemination of the Factions females and the execution of the remaining males.
I have to ask. You play a metal style that is strongly against Christianity. You live in the United States, which is considered to be a strong Christian country (at least it makes me feel like it from the media). Do you have any problems with it? Do you get space on TV, in newspapers? How is life in your country affected by Christianity?
We have had difficulties with a group in the late 90s called Christians Against Metal Music. We originally tried to record The Book Of Flames in the late 90s and ran into a myriad of bizarre, unexplainable difficulties. Including the tapes going missing at the studio, a house fire and some other things I cannot speak of. I am convinced to this day The Christians Against Metal Music were behind sabotaging the record. Our on going feud would eventually draw the attention of The Brotherhood Of The Goat and lead to its ties with HAUNTED. With the Brotherhood comes great wisdom and discernment. HAUNTED are on scene for 29 years? That's a long time for the band! When you look back and remember your beginnings, what was the first impulse that you chose to play metal? Which bands influenced you in your beginnings?
Inspiration is derived from all that is black as pitch.
Your first 1992 demo ("Haunted") rightly belong to metal jewels. Do you still remember what style they have been created? Were you conscientious, ready to go to a studio or a bunch of "animals" that treated everything in the punk style? Remember, please, how metal history was created!
Honestly Our drummer at the time Mike Prizer carried the band on his back. The song writing was very primitive and not very good to say the least. It’s a shame because we were at the right place at the right time, but my song writing was very immature. The entire album was written after I had been playing guitar for six months. Luckily at that time Mikes brutal drumming carried us through that early 90s time period.
When we stay in the history, how do you perceive the differences between the present and your beginnings? Everything has changed - technology, sound, recording studios, internet, downloading music. How did these changes work out for the band? Did you have to adapt a lot?
We did not have to adapt. Tech advances really helped me in my vision of song writing and what I always wanted HAUNTED to be. Suddenly after the long hiatus everything was easily available at my finger tips. Real sounding choirs, real sounding pipe organs, epic strings, loopers to play intros easily on stage. When we stopped in the late 90s I literally had no clue how we could perform the 90s Book Of Flames to a live audience and make it sound like the record.
I'm following your Facebook and I'm informed about your concerts, but to tell you the truth, outside of the US you do not play so often. What's the cause? Is the main reason, money? What about a tour to promote a new album in Europe with a stop in the Czech Republic?
We are not on a label. Everything is done in house. We like it that way for the most part except for the touring aspect. Without label backing it is excruciatingly difficult to go over seas. We would love to tour the world but it needs to make sense. Merch sales must be on point and venues filled to capacity. We have been invited by Nihilio of Switzerland and Etrurian Legions Promotions for a European tour late February of 2022. There are still many details to be worked out however and many unknowns.
Seems to me in last time, that, as far as extreme styles are concerned, it really works out in the US again. Especially the death metal bands are great! I'm receiving new albums for reviews, I am doing interviews and feeling like your scene is very strong. But this is my view of a person who lives outside the United States. What is your opinion? What about concerts, promoters, clubs, shops of extreme metal music there in USA?
The fan base is extremely loyal and passionate. Breath takingly so. However it’s certainly not the magical early 90 when everything was so fresh and new and exciting. I am however told that it is nothing compared to Europe. I hope to soon find out. They say fashion is cyclic. Perhaps our time has come again
