Recenze/review - STABWOUND - As Humanity Dies (2024)

STABWOUND - As Humanity Dies

Jakoby mě neustále něco do těchto prokletých míst přitahovalo.

Jakoby mě neustále něco do těchto prokletých míst přitahovalo. Ano, bylo to tohle album. Starosvětský, tajemný a záhadný death metal s temně podmanivou black doomovou atmosférou!

Asphyx says:

Actually, I don't even know why I went to the cemetery every day. My ancestors had long since rotted in the cold ground and the tombstones were tilted sideways. It's as if something kept drawing me to these cursed places. A higher power, a darkness, a longing for mystery. Somehow, subconsciously, I felt, sensed with my whole body, that one day I would meet ghosts. The souls of the dead, wandering forever between this world and the next. I was listening to the debut long-playing album of French obscurantists STAWBOUND

The first few notes were enough for me to know that this is exactly the kind of music that runs through my veins. I sat on the cold benches, swaying to the rhythm and enjoying each chilling melody. I like that the band took care with formal things like the sound (Camile Giraudeau) and the cover art (Costin Chioreanu). They all did a professional job so you can focus on the music itself. It is very captivating, addictive, mysterious and I wouldn't be afraid to write magical.

Raw, traditional death metal meets cold black metal and in some moments even doom moods. The songs are slowly getting under my skin and into my subconscious. I have it set in such a way that I just let new music affect me. Every time I listen to a new, unfamiliar album a few times and then decide if I'm going to write about the band. STAWBOUND won me over not only with their attitude, but also with their enthusiasm and ability to evoke a mysterious and very dark atmosphere. I'm really in a graveyard while listening, it's slowly getting dark and I'm waiting to see what happens. Do you also feel a tension from the music, a kind of drive, an ancient power and energy? I do, for me the French are real, believable, they play with each melody like a beast with its prey. They stuck their claw into me and I immediately put them in my most listened to records of the month. I like their handwriting, their expression. In short, the band approaches their music very honestly, with a great deal of talent. No, the gentlemen are not inventing anything new or groundbreaking, but the novelty is definitely not just good craft. On the contrary, there is something extra in it, a kind of quality stamp. And also, which is very important for me, it is very easy to listen to and I like to come back to it. At some moments with this pack you remember bands like BOLT THROWER, AUTOPSY, CELTIC FROST. In my humble opinion, these maniacs were freely inspired by them. Actually, I don't know why I went to the cemetery every day. My ancestors had long since rotted in the cold ground and the tombstones were tilted sideways. It was as if something kept drawing me to these cursed places. Yes, it was this album. Old world, mysterious and enigmatic death metal with a darkly captivating black doom atmosphere!

A few questions - interview with death metal band from France - STABWOUND.

A few questions - interview with death metal band from France - STABWOUND.

Ave, can you introduce your band to our readers? – When was it founded and what style of music do you play etc.?

Hail, we are Stabwound from Normandy, France. The band was founded in 2006 when I bought a guitar and an amp and started writing songs with my High School buddy Yoann. We play Raw Death Metal which is a mix of thrash death and doom/blackened more atmospheric elements.

Where and under what conditions were you recording the new album? Who was in charge of sound, production and mastering?

The drums where recorded in a professional studios while all the guitars, bass and vocals where recorded in our home studio.

It was a difficult process as we started with a different line up, then COVID happen and I had to re record every guitar tracks when we got the project back on track after the pandemic.

Finally Camille Giraudeau (dodheimsgard/doedsmagheird) did the mixing and the mastering. Needless to say he did an awsome job at it, making our album sound like old school extreme metal with 2024 quality! This guy is a genius!

How many copies were released and which medium was used for this new edition (CD, digital, vinyl, cassette)?

We released 200 CDs and 100 LP with our label France Black Death and Grind.

Another 200cd will be released via Iron Blood and Death corporation, our Mexican label.

Both versions are available online !

Who is the author of the lyrics and how were they created and about what do the lyrics deal with?

I (Jeremy) write all the lyrics. I see songs as sonic movies, each part of a song being small „scenes“. Thus I like to write song that tell stories, sotries about ancient lovecraftian horrors, war, slasher movies type of tales or more vagues and open lyrics that people can interpret more freely.

Who created the logo of the band, and who took care of the graphics and the website? What about you and social networks? Do you consider these things important?

The logo was created a while back by Greg from Visual Injuries.

The amazingly beautiful artwork was drawn by Costin Chioreanu who is such a talented artist. He meAde a name for himself with his esoteric, dreamlike landscape that come from his mind. Check out his other work for many famous bands, you will dig it!!

We try to be active on social media, especially YouTube and Facebook.

These are really important for us as you will find everything you need to know, see and listen about us!

Facebook.com/stabwound.death

Which label did you choose for releasing your album and why this label? Are you satisfied by how your label represents you and takés care about you?

We chose to work with two labels to have more impact.

We are still fairly underground so having small but professional label both in France and in Mexico is greatly appreciated.

They do thing the old school way but are very supportive.

Thanks Yann, Cyrille, Yoann and Antonio!!

Which bands do you idolise and where do you get your inspiration?

I listen to suite a broad range of metal bands but the one iIdoloze are:

Iron maiden, Candlemass, Slayer, My dying Bride, Bolt Thrower, Celtic Frost and Tryptikon, Mayhem… those are the band that shaped my song writing the most!!

Did you send your record to some Labels - which are the labels? How was the response?

Well I tried all the big names, they never answered so I went to the one who where actually interested and contacted us…

It’s a shame that the big names only selected already established bands. So all in all the small bands have to do everything by themselve first before being picked by a big label.

Anyway, we don’t really care as our labels help us as much as they can and we are doing our best to grow as a band.

How many gigs have you played? Which type of gigs do you prefer, whether it's (clubs or festivals) and which of your performances would you consider as the best?

Oh damn, I think I lost track of all the gigs we played since 2008….

I love the small bar gigs because they are raw and in your face, ear splitting volume, proximity with the audience… I love that

Festival gigs are also awesome cause you play on bigger stages in front of a more diverse audience.

Live performances is one of our strong point and each show is a battle to conquer the audience. When you come to see us be sure we will give everything we have to kick your ass hard. So yeah the next gig will always be our best!

What about your plans for the future? What do you want to achieve with the band?

We want to establish Stabwound as a great Death Metal band. We strive to keep the flame of real, raw, aggressive and true metal alive.

We don’t care about money, about faking performance on tik tok, cheating in the studio or live to sound bigger.

What you ear on the album is what you get, straight, dark and catchy Death Metal. We don’t want to be innovators, we love true metal and we want to keep it alive in a world where social media, looks, gimmicks, or the size of the boobs of your lead singer, have more importance than the integrity of your music.

We believe in passion, honesty and integrity. That’s what metal is about for us and that’s what we will always do.

How and where can your fans contact you? Can you provide some contact information?

You can contact us on our facebook page, instagram and Youtube.

I answer every comment on Facebook so don’t hesitate to say hello ther too!

We would love to play on Poland by the way, so if you are a promoter we will be more than happy to come destroy your stage at a festival !!!

Thanx for the interview.

Recenze/review - MENTAL TORMENT - Dead Shot Revival (2024)

MENTAL TORMENT - Dead Shot Revival
CD 2024, Metallurg Music

for english please scroll down

Do mrazivé hry vás uvede temný obal (Maria Vynohradska) a myslím si, že si užijete i chladný, podmanivý a dobře čitelný zvuk (Mixed by Mykhailo Chuha).

Asphyx says:

Sometimes I feel like everything is falling apart around us. All I see are gloomy faces. Shadows without souls walk between the houses. The clouds are once again very close to the ground and the sun hasn't risen for days. I often run from the grey city into the woods and bow to my ancestors in the cemetery. I don't know where the sadness comes from. Maybe from the fog and smog around me, maybe from inside me. Cut off from the strange world around me, immersed in my own thoughts, I listen to the new album by Ukrainian MENTAL TORMENT

Some of us have long since lost the ability to recognize evil. I'm glad there are still bands that approach their music with honesty, with realness. I write this often, funeral doom metal combined with death metal is a very difficult discipline. The gentlemen and lady from Kiev tackle the new songs with talent, passion and sadness. A full moon falls on me while listening and my mood is colored in shades of black.

Outside, winter is slowly beginning and the trees are decorated with frost. I wander the city with my headphones on and listen carefully. With the new, third long-playing album "Dead Shot Revival", I end up in the cemetery every time. I'm fascinated by the mood of the whole record. It's as if I and the band share a similar view of the world, of eternity and nothingness. Everything here fits perfectly in its place. You are introduced to the chilling game by the dark cover art (Maria Vynohradska) and I think you will also enjoy the cool, captivating and well-read sound (Mixed by Mykhailo Chuha). As for the lyrics, they are in their native language, Ukrainian, and I recommend them for closer study. They certainly have depth to them (though of course I had to use a translator). It's as if an infinite sadness has been imprinted on the music. The album really feels heavy, gloomy, nihilistic. There is no hope anymore. Although maybe, somewhere at the end of the darkness, a glimmer of light can be seen. I'll confess one thing to you. I like and often read after my walks. A new record was first the backdrop and gradually the variety of my blood. It's hard to explain and describe, but it has become part of me, settled in my subconscious. I have a thing for funeral doom metal. Because I think that in today's hectic, often hateful world, moments when you stop and just think are very rare. If you like this raw, slow and draggy style, be sure to at least listen to the samples. For me, MENTAL TORMENT are such a private discovery of this year. This is exactly the kind of music that is better to listen to than to write about. Sometimes I feel like everything is collapsing around us. All I see are gloomy faces. Shadows without souls walk between the houses. The clouds are once again very close to the ground and the sun hasn't risen for days. I often run from the grey city into the woods and bow to my ancestors in the cemetery. Now I know where the sadness comes from. Yes, from this recording. Gloomy, sad, endlessly painful funeral doom death metal that takes you to the depths of nothingness! Loneliness of the body, pain of the soul!

Interview - NEKUS - A mysterious, dark and cold death doom metal ritual!

Interview with doom death metal band from Germany - NEKUS.

Answered Entity I, thank you!

Recenze/review - NEKUS - Death Apophenia (2024):

Ave NEKUS! It's been a while since your label Sentient Ruin Laboratories sent me an album to review. And immediately with "Death Apophenia" you got to the imaginary top of my personal doom death metal chart. The first time I encountered the new album was in the cold weather, when it got very cold. It was very pleasant for me to just listen, read and let the time pass. How was the album made and how do you think it differs from the previous album "Sepulchral Divination”?

Entity I: Hi Jakub, This album is different because we add a second guitarist in the band and the songwriting is more aggressive and atmospheric from the debut album.

Let's go back in history a bit. NEKUS was formed in 2018. The band is composed of all experienced musicians. It's not easy to start again nowadays. How did you guys get together in the first place and why did you choose doom death metal? Your initial work was more black metal…

Entity I: Yes the band formed in 2018 and we work as a duo, Entity III join us short before the recording of the first EP. Since day 1 we wanted play a doom death with some black element.. probably the first ep sound more black because we recorded by ourself and in general have more raw sound.

The new stuff has that cool, clear sound that I really like. Where did you record and who produced the album? I would be interested to know how you worked together, how you got together and why him? What kind of feelings did you leave the studio with?

Entity I: we use the same place that we used for putridarium album, a private house that we build up as studio for live recording. we recorded first live and after we overdub the guitars. The recording, mixing and mastering was again done by Chris (Cyphx-Audio). With Chris i collaborate since Into Coffin last 2 release.. we know each other very well and is become quite easy work together.

When I look at the cover, it reminds me terribly of a scene from an old cemetery in my town, the catacombs. Beautiful work. Who's the artist and why did you choose this particular motif?

Entity I: The Cover is a Small details coming from a photo made from one of us.

What are your lyrics about? Where do you get inspiration for them? And what are the lyrics on the new album about?

Entity I : Conceptional inspiration comes mostly from ancient Greek or in general mediterranean concepts of Death. Nekus don’t have lyrics just texts that we use for explain the logic behind the album and the reason of the title. Entity III is the one behind the intellectual side of this project for this album.

NEKUS are a band that when I listen to them I immediately know who they are. You have your own unmistakable signature, expression. A strange dark mood that has a very urgent effect on me. How do you explain that? Do you have a secret formula, a recipe? How do you create new material? I'm talking about the process now.

Entity I: the music is concentrate to bring a dark and evil feeling.. when i play this songs i fall in a trance where the whispering and chanting are getting out without any control.. i just feel it. That’s why i record this music live, where every musician can play using the feeling and not thinking.

The songwriting process of this album is coming from my work at home and in a later point arrange by the other band members. It take me just some hours write some of the songs.. right moment and right mental feeling and riffs coming out with no difficulty, again my lack of music theory help me to be free and write everything my mind want.

Do nature, the outside world, cemeteries influence you in any way? Every time I hear your band I think that you can put such a special mood, melancholy into your songs. A lot of times I took the album to the woods near us, just outside the city, and it felt like I was somewhere in the beyond.

Entity I: probably more woods that cemetery but you need to be in the right mood for listen this kind of music, for me is the best therapy for survive in this sick world.

Compared to Germany, the Czech Republic is a small country. We have a lot of metal bands here too, but definitely not as many as you guys. I wonder why you have so many dark bands? And I'm not talking about the mainstream, but the underground. How do you explain that? By the way, I recently interviewed the guitarist and vocalist Giona from PUTRIDARIUM and he said that there are maybe only ten people in Marbug who play/listen to death metal. It seems to me that I meet more and more bands from Germany.

Entity I: I’m not the biggest fan of German underground or metal scene, yes there are a lot of band.. evil band or dark… much less… the most pf the black metal band are just “poser” and in death metal there are for sure some good and cool bands (check Morsch if you like darkness death doom) but not more than from other country (The Italian dark sound). About Marburg (again) yes we are like 4/5 people paying in 4/5 bands ahahah

How do you perceive your scene? Gigs, fans, labels? There are quite a lot of gigs here, but only some of them are well attended. Plus I feel like the young fans are already listening to something a bit different.

Entity I: Nekus are a solitary entity that is quite difficult to put in a scene… death or Black shows are well attended but most of the time is difficult to understand if the people are there for the music and to support the artist or just for the party. metal culture will never die but for sure is not living is best moment and the young generation are missing every year more and more.

I personally find "Death Apophenia" to be such a polished stylistic gem, but it can also appeal to fans outside of doom death metal. The album is raw, but it also has a lot of memorable melodies. Where do you want to take the band? What is your goal? Someone is attracted by big festivals, someone wants a famous label. What are your dreams?

Entity I: thanks for the compliment. we like play live so we will always say yes at the most of possibility to play festival or small shows are all well welcome. the goal is probably bring uncomfortable feeling to the public is listening to us. i don’’t have big dreams, i just wanna be free to transfer the obscurity inside me in music.

How did you get into music in the first place? Who was your role model? First gig? First gig as a musician? How about some wild experiences, readers are always interested in that:)).

Entity I: i got into music thanks at Iron Maiden when i was 9 years old.. there start my travel with music, role model Steve Harris for the first years as metalhead eheh… first gig was back in italy when i was probably 17 years old with a shitty cover band ( i was playing bass). wild experience… good question probably one of them is getting arrested the same day of my first concert ahah

I'd be interested in your relationship to music. What does it mean to you? Is it a hobby? A lifestyle?

Entity I: Music is everything, i can’t image a day of my life without, i listen everyday a lot of music and i buy records any times i can. buy physical and fuck off Spotify and all digital platforms!

What are NEKUS planning in the near future?

Entity I: there are some shows on plan and a split… so beware!

Thank you very much for the interview, I appreciate it. You probably have an idea of what I'm going to do. Sure, I'll head out into the woods, and I'll take your new album "Death Apophenia" with me. It's excellent! I wish it sells well and that you are happy in your personal lives.

Entity I: Thanks to you for this interview and welcome into darkness!

Rozhovor - NEKUS - Záhadný, temný a chladný death doom metalový rituál!

Rozhovor s doom death metalovou skupinou z Německa - NEKUS.

Odpovídal Entity I, děkujeme!

Recenze/review - NEKUS - Death Apophenia (2024):

Ave NEKUS!

Pojďme trošku do historie. NEKUS vznikli v roce 2018.

První EP zní asi víc blackově, protože jsme si ho nahrávali sami a celkově má syrovější zvuk.

Novinka má přesně takový ten chladný, čitelný zvuk, který mám moc rád. Kde jste nahrávali a kdo vám album produkoval?

Nejprve jsme nahrávali živě a poté jsme přibírali kytary. Nahrávání, mix a mastering opět provedl Chris (Cyphx-Audio).

Čím si to vysvětluješ? Máte nějakou tajnou formuli, recept? Jak tvoříte nový materiál? Myslím tím teď samotný proces.

Entita I: hudba se soustředí na temný a zlý pocit. Když si pustím tuto skladbu, upadnu do transu, kde se šeptání a zpěv dostávají ven bez jakékoliv kontroly... prostě to cítím.

Zajímalo by mě, proč se u vás daří tolika temným kapelám? A to teď nemluvím o mainstreamu, ale o undergroundu. Čím si to vysvětluješ?

A co nějaké divoké zážitky, to vždycky čtenáře zajímá?:)).

Zajímal by mě tvůj vztah k muzice. Co pro tebe znamená? Je to koníček? Životní styl?

Entita I: Hudba je všechno, nedokážu si bez ní představit ani den svého života, každý den poslouchám spoustu hudby a kupuju si desky, kdykoli můžu. Kupuju fyzickou hudbu a kašlu na Spotify a všechny digitální platformy!

Co chystají NEKUS v nejbližší době?

Entita I: v plánu je několik koncertů a splitek... takže pozor!

Děkuji moc za rozhovor, vážím si ho. Asi tušíš, co půjdu dělat. Jasně, vyrazím ven, do lesa a vaši novinku „Death Apophenia“ si vezmu s sebou. Je totiž vynikající! Přeji vám, aby se dobře prodávala a ať jste spokojení i v osobních životech.

Entita I: Děkujeme vám za rozhovor a vítáme vás v temnotě!

Recenze/review - TROLLCAVE - Adoration of the Abyssal Trespasser (2024)

TROLLCAVE - Adoration of the Abyssal Trespasser
EP 2024, Me Saco Un Ojo / BlackSeed

for english please scroll down

Ta pomalost, smutek, chlad i tma, tvoří spolu s riffy a melodiemi pohřební celek, který zajisté ocení nejen všichni fanoušci stylu. Začali přede mnou ožívat bolestivé příběhy, plné utrpení, strachu a beznaděje. Chlad a absolutní tma!

Asphyx says:

There is no hope. You look in vain at the moon shining into the darkness. It has been decided that you will die in a dark and cold dungeon. Slowly, you're slipping into a strange state between our world and the next. You're looking at the other side. You watch the rats waiting for a piece of fresh meat. Without sleep, you pray to heaven, but the answers never come. You are forever lost in the endless swamps of eternity. Sometimes you wonder if it wouldn't be better to pick up the rusty razor blade they left by your bed.

Listening to the new album by funeral doom death metal maniacs TROLLCAVE is a very challenging thing for me personally. I'm perhaps a little too receptive to similar themes shrouded in a bloody mist. The first few notes were enough and I immediately saw demons waiting in the shadows. The band from Barcelona, made up of all experienced musicians, come up with an eerily cool mantra that you'll find yourself repeating every day in your dungeon.

The entire output of the Spanish darkies is loosely inspired by bands like DISEMBOWELMENT, WINTER, EVOKEN. Of course, the gentlemen add their own ideas and inventiveness to the music. The new album contains two tracks that are at first just such a distant echo. Gradually, however, they start to crawl around you, like a ball of poisonous snakes that gradually enchant and bite you. Listening to "Adoration of the Abyssal Trespasser" is like looking at a dirty river full of rotting corpses. This is music for the old catacombs, with a massive and moldy sound, with a cover that complements everything beautifully. I think, I know, that records like this have to be listened to with the heart. The slowness, the sadness, the coldness and the darkness, together with the riffs and melodies, form a funereal whole that will surely be appreciated not only by all fans of the style. TROLLCAVE open old, long untreated wounds, squeezing out the tainted blood. I used to take the album on long walks through the woods often, and each time I ended up in an old burial ground. Painful stories, full of suffering, fear and hopelessness, began to come alive before me. The new album is a very depressing album, causing depression-like states in weaker characters. Individual motifs embraced me, like cobwebs still wrapped around mangy corpses. A chill came into my bones, and into my subconscious. I stared into the darkness, watching the eyes of the damned, waiting for their opportunity. There is no hope now. I look in vain at the moon, shining into the darkness. It was decided that I would die in a dark and cold dungeon. Slowly, I'm slipping into a strange state between our world and the next. I look to the other side. I confess and sign with my own blood that this album has been a great success. I cannot but recommend it to you. Grim, creeping funeral doom death metal rot that will get into your subconscious! Cold and absolute darkness!

Interview - PUTRIDARIUM - Dead rotting, swamping and dark doom death metal!

Interview with death doom metal band from Germany - PUTRIDARIUM.

Answered Giona (guitars, vocals), thank you!

Recenze/review - PUTRIDARIUM - Necrologia del sadismo: Excerpts from a Deranged Mind (2024): https://www.deadlystormzine.com/2024/11/recenzereview-putridarium-necrologia.html

Ave PUTRIDARIUM! Greetings to the German catacombs. First, let me pay my respects. I've been following your band since 2021 when you released your first demo "Putrefaction '21" and you've been one of my favourite bands ever since. But you are not very well known here in the Czech Republic, we are a small country with a small underground community. How did you actually get together and how did PUTRIDARIUM come into being? Please take us through the history of your band.

G: Uuuuaaargh Jakub!

first at all thanks for follow us since the start and thanks for this interview! we slowly make our name in Europe but since our main label is American we somehow are better know there eheh. We really like the Czech death metal scene in particular i’m a big fan of Mordloch!

I had the idea of Putridarium in 2020 probably, i don’t remember actually when but i remember that the same day i got this idea i wrote the Putrefaction demo. was a intense night but was fun and I got completely in to the music and beer helped a lot ahah. The day after i ask J and E to join and we start to work on the demo.

You have a new album out this year, "Necrologia del sadismo: Excerpts from a Deranged Mind", which again is full of pure true death metal and doom. With what feelings did you go into the studio? For example, did you have a plan for where and how you wanted to move on from the previous recordings? Personally I find the new record more darker and colder at the same time. I have to admit that the atmosphere of the whole album literally won me over.

G: The plan was to write a album for Death metal maniac ahah. we did’t go in a studio but we build one. Our goal was to record the album live, without any trigger, overdub or any modern shit that influences the sound and the dynamic but the most important thing is that it sound like us and not like every death metal band nowadays.

I always had this dream and ideas to record live my music i always do but since last year we finally find the perfect place and we manage to get a killer clean sound. i’m quite proud about but it didn’t was a easy work it takes years to manage this quality of recording with a proper results.

We rehearsal a lot the months before the recording, the plan was to take the best of the 3. so we play 3times each song and we choose the best one, small error are still there we didn't’’t edit anything. the all process take 2 days and the results are amazing!

Who's behind the sound? I like that the sound is massive, dusty, dirty and cold, but at the same time legible. What studio did you record in and who mixed and mastered the album? Did you have a lot of say in the final sound or did you leave it up to the sound engineer?

G: The sound is the sound of our amps and drums.. we didn't’’t change much, we work a lot on our sound but from the roots.. equipments.. the band have the 90’ feeling so first thing we used only(most) 80/90 equipment.. drum is a fantastic Mapex end 90’ with amazing toms sound, guitars are both 90’ a Ibanez destroyer and a bich from B.C.Rich start 90’ both guitar are played on transistor amp (Marschall and Crate) and same for bass, Ibanez destroyer on peavey 90’ transistor amp. all this stuff make the sound already good so our sound engineer had to record and mix everything but the sound it din’t change that much.. live you will listen the same shitty sound of the album. Of course Chris work was on the end sound really relevant because he manage in the perfect way to mix everything. I had a clear idea of what i wanted have and Chris made the magic!

I'm also a big fan of CD artwork and I really like your covers. Who is the author on the new release "Necrologia del sadismo: Excerpts from a Deranged Mind" and what is it supposed to express? I really like the motif a lot, it complements the music beautifully, just please tell us how they relate to the music, how are they thematically interconnected?

G: Oh yes! Maria (Altar of Worms) made a fantastic work. i’m quite happy to had work with her! the idea was to make the cover look like a 70/80 Horror film poster. The bassist is quite into horror films and i’m into Erotic Horror comics was quite a natural logical process. at the end all album is a represent of our passions.

I wrote the cover project before finish the album lyrics let’s say is quite thematically connected if not 1to 1 but nearly.. horror, gore.. killing and a lot of perversions and sex with body parts eheh. you can not ask for better themes.

I would be interested in the process by which a new song is created in PUTRIDARIUM. Are you classical musicians who lock yourselves in a rehearsal room and jam or do you use modern technology and send ideas to each other? Do you even go out for a beer together?

G: 99% of the times i write the song at home or alone and after we meet in our rehearsal room and we work on the song together. In the writing process i don’t use any computer anyway.. i normally play all on my cabinets and i write all on papers (that’’s why my room is full of papers everywhere). one time i finish the song i normally put my telephone nearby the box and i record one time the full song. Drums we do by rehearsal together, we try always different drumming to see which one fit better the riff.

We used hang together at the start, now 2 band members have move from Marburg so is not always that easy party together.

You are experienced dogs who play in your own way. You have your own handwriting, which is something that is sometimes forgotten nowadays. A lot of bands just sound like copies of other bands. Are you sure you had any role models? Who influenced you as a musician and who was your role model? When and how did you actually start playing? What was the first impetus for you picking up an instrument?

G: yeah now are quite some years that i’m releasing my shitty music (sorry for that). Of course by playing old school death doom is difficult to don’’t sound like other bands.. i try to give some more personal taste in my music but i just use feeling i never learn to play guitar, it just happened and probably this is my lucky part because i’m free to do what i like without let the theory interfere with my ideas. i think as role models Tom G. Warrior was quite important for me and his philosophy to do music will always influences me. there are some Guitarist/songwriter that i really like are Kyle (-ex Acephalix) that guys have always the right riff in hand! other are: E.Rutan, Annti Boman and Jeff Hanneman. My first approach to heavy metal was 24 years ago with Iron Maiden and immediately i wanted to be like Steve Harris fo for the first 10 years i just play bass eheh

I think the biggest reward for any band is the reaction of the fans. I like smaller clubs the most, where the musicians and fans are close to each other. How often does PUTRIDARIUM perform? Do you tour, for example? I've searched the internet and haven't found much live footage of your shows. So how are PUTRIDARIUM's live shows? How about a tour in Europe? I would love that.

G: play live is everything we play every time we can! we love Tour be overnight somewhere else and drinking partying knowing new people, that’s why we do music! eheh

we had a tour last September with Trollcave (amazing guys and bad) and we had one show in Czech R. at Tones of Decay fest, where was you? eheh but we have other tours in plan for next year! And we really love to play outside Germany so anybody want us vomiting on their stage please don’t edits to ask! we always ready to rot!

I've always wondered what kind of music musicians actually listen to. Do you have any albums that you like to revisit often? What about any new releases from the last few years? Anything that intrigued you enough to buy a CD?

G: I listen quite a lot of music and i always on search for something new! and i collect LP,Tapes,cds..

yes i have some album that i need to listen in a weekly dose ahah

Acephalix - Interminable Night

Cannibal Corpse . The wretched Spawn

Voivod - Dimension Hatross

Autopsy - Acts of the unspeakable

Cianide . the dying truth

Temple Nightside - the Hecatomb

this album minimum 1 time a week are spinning my head away as the first time i listen to it!

new release that i enjoyed in this last years… a lot but in particularly :

Atramentus - Stygian

Morbific . Ominous sleep of putridity

Mordloch Ep , Dipygus - Dypigus , Scolopendra - VM 18 , Morsch demo… so many ahah last 2 new autopsy!! Uuuuaaaargh!

You're from Marburg, Hesse. What's the state of the underground in your country? Our bands like to come to Germany because you have a strong fan base and the bands support each other here. What is your scene really like? I'd be interested in your perspective as someone who is right at the source. Do people go to a lot of death metal? Do the fans support you?

G: Marburg is quiet outside all germans scene… sad fact, i have to drive every-time a lot of hours for see some good shows, here there is no scene.. probably 10 people that understand about death metal.

I really like the NRW scene. they do always a lot of shows and Berlin too at the end there are always the same maniacs all around ahah i really like more Holland and Poland for playing. the most of our fans are from Usa so one day we rally wanna go play there! is just hard as fuck!

Death metal is my favorite style of music. I'm fascinated by the darkness of it, the dusty stench from old graves. Then also the power and the pressure. When I listen to a good record, I'm literally energized. What does it mean to you? How does it affect your life, your worldview, how do you perceive it as a creator?

G: Death metal is everything, is a way of life, if not for everybody but sure for me.. i can’t live without. i love the adrenaline that give. i like the family that create and friendship, partying. It connect disturbed people in all world ahahah i write music but first at all I'm a death metal maniac, is the only way for real understand this music is living it! That’s why we write on the album that this album is from maniacs for maniacs! Uh!

Thank you so much for the interview! I wish not only the new album "Necrologia del sadismo: Excerpts from a Deranged Mind", but also the whole PUTRIDARIUM a lot of success. I'm going to listen to the album again! It's really great. Good luck in your personal lives too.

Thanks to you! Feel the madness and stay dead, stay ugly!
