Mrtvolné pohledy, lidé bloudící bez cíle ulicemi. Někteří již jen tak leží a zvracejí krev. Začalo to nevinně. Spousta dezinformací, protesty. Falešní proroci. Starodávná choroba, uložená v opuštěných katakombách, byla znovu vytažena na světlo, aby zničila náš podivný druh. Přestali jsme věřit v sebe samé, následovali jsme další lháře. Smrt je všude kolem a já poslouchám debutové album DEADSPEAK z Nizozemí. Jedná se o propracovaný, surový death metal se spoustou chladných a temných melodií.

Kapelu jsem objevil na svých nekonečných toulkách v podzemí. Poslechl jsem si ukázky, zaujaly mě a začal jsem se o tyhle maniaky zajímat víc. Teď tu sedím, postupně přidávám hlasitost. Dívám se z okna a na ulicích umírají další lidé. Netuším, jestli už nastala apokalypsa. Jistý jsem si jenom s tím, že tohle album hoří jasným plamenem a dostalo se mi do vnitřností.

Mám již ve svém věku spoustu požadavků, aby se kapela dostala do mé soukromé sbírky. Musí mít dobrý a masivní zvuk (pánové odvedli opravdu skvělou práci - Mixed by Stijn van Gestel and mastered by Greg Wilkinson). Obal, který přesně vystihuje to, co se na albu odehrává (Paolo Girardi je mistr ve svém oboru a potvrzuje to i tentokrát). A hlavně - musím si skladby pamatovat, musím mít chuť zbourat nejbližší zeď, musím z hudby cítit opravdovost a upřímnost. "Plagues of Sulfur Bound" splňuje vše a ještě spoustu věcí navíc. Novinka je ostrá a divoká, živočišná, přesto chladná a temná. DEADSPEAK jsou opravdu jako starodávná choroba, která byla dlouhé roky uložena v záhrobí. Letos se vrátila a vám nezbývá nic jiného, než shnít zaživa. Album jsem zkoušel poslouchat v různých situacích. V autě, v práci, cestou kolem hřbitova i v temné noci. Nejvíce jsem ale vnímal její sílu velmi brzy ráno, když byly v ulicích přízraky a za rohem číhali démoni. Jako bych navštívil podzemí pod naším městem, se vší jeho špínou, hnusem a nenávistí. Hned vedle špinavé stoky, v hlubokém undergroundu, musela tahle nahrávka vznikat. Dívám se do tmy, kývám se do rytmu, prosévám mezi prsty prach svých předků. Smrt je všude kolem a hudba zní éterem jako nějaké děsivé memento. V téhle desce je otištěno naše zlé svědomí, děsivé myšlenky. Nezbývá, než podepsat vlastní krví, že se debutové album povedlo po všech stránkách. Starodávná choroba, uložená v opuštěných katakombách, byla znovu vytažena na světlo, aby zničila náš podivný druh. Přestali jsme věřit v sebe samé, následovali jsme další lháře. Krutý a ostrý, masivní death thrash metal s temně chladnou atmosférou! Lavina z kostí, špíny a zkažené krve!

Dead stares, people wandering aimlessly through the streets. Some just lying there, vomiting blood. It started innocently. Lots of misinformation, protests. False prophets. An ancient disease, stored in abandoned catacombs, has been brought to light again to destroy our strange species. We stopped believing in ourselves, we followed other liars. Death is everywhere and I'm listening to the debut album from DEADSPEAK in the Netherlands. This is sophisticated, raw death metal with lots of cold and dark melodies.

I discovered the band on my endless wanderings in the underground. I listened to some samples, got intrigued and became more interested in these maniacs. Now I'm sitting here, gradually turning up the volume. I'm looking out the window and more people are dying in the streets. I don't know if the apocalypse is here yet. The only thing I'm sure of is that this album is burning bright and it's gotten into my guts.

At my age, I already have a lot of requests to get a band into my private collection. It has to have a good and massive sound (the gentlemen did a really great job - Mixed by Stijn van Gestel and mastered by Greg Wilkinson). A cover that accurately describes what is happening on the album (Paolo Girardi is a master in his field and proves it this time). And most importantly - I have to remember the songs, I have to want to tear down the nearest wall, I have to feel the music is real and honest. "Plagues of Sulfur Bound" fulfills all that and a lot more. The new album is edgy and fierce, animalistic yet cold and dark. DEADSPEAK are really like an ancient disease that has been stored in the beyond for many years. This year it has returned and you have no choice but to rot alive. I tried to listen to the album in different situations. In the car, at work, on the way past the cemetery and in the dark of night. But I felt its power the most very early in the morning, when the streets were haunted and demons lurked around the corner. It was like visiting the underground beneath our city, with all its filth, ugliness and hatred. Right next to the filthy sewer, deep in the underground, this record must have been made. I stare into the darkness, swaying to the rhythm, sifting the dust of my ancestors between my fingers. Death is all around and the music sounds through the ether like some eerie memento. Our evil conscience, our terrible thoughts are imprinted in this record. I can't help but sign with my own blood that the debut album has succeeded in every aspect. An ancient disease, stored in abandoned catacombs, has been brought to light once again to destroy our strange species. We stopped believing in ourselves, we followed other liars. Cruel and sharp, massive death thrash metal with a darkly cold atmosphere! An avalanche of bones, filth and corrupted blood!
