Ave, can you introduce your band to our readers? – When was it founded and what style of music do you play etc.?

Claustrum formed in 2020 during pandemic between Trieste and Gorizia (IT)

And are :

Pablo (vocals / guitar)

Paolo (bass, lyrics)

Stefano (drums)

We formed the band with the intention of playing dirty ,raw and filthy death metal nothing more nothing less.


Where and under what conditions were you recording the new album? Who was in charge of sound, production and mastering?

The album was Recorded at trackterminalstudio in Trieste by Francesco Bardy

And Mixed /mastered by Gabriele Gramaglia (Cosmic Putrefaction)

The Intro Ecpirosi is written by Morgan Bellini of Vanessa VanBasten

The Outro Necroptosi is by Morbid Philosopher, a friend of us.

How many copies were released and which medium was used for this new edition (CD, digital, vinyl, cassette)?

The Album has been Released on LP and CD by AvantGarde Music ( Milan), an historical italian label since 1994 and their death metal division Unorthodox Emanations, on the 9th of june 2023

A tape version will be also released by Night Terrors Records (Amsterdam Netherlands) and FilthJunkies Records (Praha Czech Republic)


Who is the author of the lyrics and how were they created and about what do the lyrics deal with?

The author of the lyrics is Paolo (me),also the bass player ,and they were created drinking lots of beers:) watching many horror movies and taking inspiration from sci -fi horror and autors like Poe and Lovecraft .

Songwriting and heavy riffing are from Pablo

Blast beat, hammer drumming are by Stefano .

Who created the logo of the band, and who took care of the graphics and the website? What about you and social networks? Do you consider these things important?

The Artwork is made by Davide Dartworks Mancini.

Which label did you choose for releasing your album and why this label? Are you satisfied by how your label represents you and takés care about you?

We decided for avant-garde label because after we sent them the first demo they immediately sent us an excellent offer we were unable to say no, we didn't immediately expect to be able to make a vinyl release and a cd with a label, we thought at first to make a demo for bandcamp or a self-produced cd, but avantgarde immediately offered to make the vinyl and the cd and so we accepted without thinking about it much and we are very satisfied and grateful.

Which bands do you idolise and where do you get your inspiration?

We have many favorite bands, we all listen to a lot of music, and of course we love genre classics like Bolt thrower Autopsy

Incantation, Death, Morbid Angel to name a few and we also like newer bands like Cerebral rot, Undergang, Tomb Mold, Vastum and many more, there is a band from the Czech republic that you surely know that we like a lot, Snet, their record is very powerful and their live shows are incredible!

Did you send your record to some Labels - which are the labels? How was the response?

W avant-garde!

How many gigs have you played? Which type of gigs do you prefer, whether it's (clubs or festivals) and which of your performances would you consider as the best?

,At the moment we haven't played live yet ,but we are organizing ourselves for the future, we all already have experience with our previous bands but Claustrum hasn't played live yet, but we can't wait to do it and some dates have already been set.

We don't have great preferences for live performances, of course playing at a big festival would be very nice, but we also like a small club or squat with the right atmosphere very much.

What about your plans for the future? What do you want to achieve with the band?

Our plans for the future are to promote the album and play it live, meet new people and other bands, make new friends, and write new music.

Hodil jsem starou plesnivou kost na podlahu a ozvalo se ječivé pištění. Ze tmy se na mě dívaly oči stovek krys. Pochopil jsem, proč není na kostře žádné maso. Pach rozkládajících se tkání, mrazivá temnota. Opět jsem sestoupil do podzemí, abych vyhledal nějaký dobrý death metal. Poslouchal jsem pečlivě a objevil jsem italské CLAUSTRUM. Ti právě letos přicházejí se svým debutem. Stačilo mi pár prvních tónů a věděl jsem, že tohle album bude častým hostem v mém přehrávači.

Obsahuje v sobě totiž vše potřebné pro poctivou pitvu. Řez proveďte do obráceného kříže. A nedivte se, že když vyndáte vnitřnosti, mrtvý vám obživne. Tahle deska totiž probudí všechny zombie v okolí. Půjdou vám po krku a vy si budete jako já užívat morbidní zvuk (Recorded by Francesco Bardy at Trackterminal Studio, Trieste, Mixed and mastered by Gabriele Gramaglia (Cosmic Putrefaction, Vertebra Atlantis & more)), případně se necháte unášet fantazií u skvělého obalu (Cover art by Davide ‘Dart Works’ Mancini). Peklo zase jednou otevřelo svoje brány!


Pánové se nechali volně inspirovat kapelami jako MORBID ANGEL, INCANTATION, DISMA, FUNEBRARUM, KRYPTS, BLASPHERIAN, DRAWN AND QUARTERED, CIANIDE. Jedná se přesně o ten druh surového death metalu, který vás pohřbí zaživa a vy se rozpadnete na tisíc kousků. Kapela přesně ví co a jak chce hrát. Krví nasáklé riffy jsou spojovány s drtivými bicími a chorobným vokálem. Songy jsou napsány velmi uvěřitelným způsobem. Tvrdím to já, zombie a podepisuje to i Satan, který je všude přítomný. CLAUSTRUM jsou nekompromisní, ale nezapomínají ani na chladné melodie. Vždycky mám radost, když objevím novou smečku, která hraje poctivě, od srdce a navíc má i talent. Italové sice nepřinášejí do záhrobí nic nového, ale hrají takovým způsobem, že nebudete moci jinak, než neustále přidávat hlasitost. Prosévám mezi prsty prach a přemýšlím, kdy jsem naposledy viděl světlo. Už je to hodně dlouho, co se toulám v katakombách. Jsem starým hrobníkem, drtím kosti a až jednou přijde řada i na vás, tak nebudu mít slitování. Stejně jako kapela, která mi svým novým albem "Claustrum" vystřelila mozek z hlavy, několikrát mě pohřbila zaživa a přikovala na zeď. Vždycky se mi líbí, když ve mě hudba vyvolá spoustu představ a iluzí. Po poslechu téhle desky se mi opět vrátily děsivé noční můry, tančil jsem na vlastním hrobě. Ale hlavně si nahrávku opravdu užíval a stále se k ní vracel. Muzika je pro mě každodenním společníkem a Italové byli a jsou velmi často na předních místech v mém osobním playlistu. Budiž tma! Prašivá exhumace starých death metalových hrobů!

I threw an old moldy bone on the floor and there was a shrieking squeal. The eyes of hundreds of rats peered at me from the darkness. I understood why there was no meat on the skeleton. The smell of decomposing tissue, the chilling darkness. I descended into the underground again to find some good death metal. I listened carefully and discovered the Italian CLAUSTRUM. They have just come out with their debut this year. Just the first few notes were enough and I knew that this album would be a frequent guest in my player.

It contains everything needed for an honest dissection. Make the cut in an inverted cross. And don't be surprised if you take out the entrails, the dead will come back to life. Hell has opened its gates once again!


The gentlemen were freely inspired by bands like MORBID ANGEL, INCANTATION, DISMA, FUNEBRARUM, KRYPTS, BLASPHERIAN, DRAWN AND QUARTERED, CIANIDE. This is exactly the kind of raw death metal that will bury you alive and make you fall into a thousand pieces. The band knows exactly what and how they want to play. Blood soaked riffs are combined with crushing drums and sick vocals. The songs are written in a very believable way. I, a zombie, say it and Satan, who is everywhere present, signs it. CLAUSTRUM are uncompromising, but they don't forget the cool melodies either. I'm always happy when I discover a new pack that plays honestly, from the heart and has talent to boot. The Italians may not bring anything new to the backwoods, but they play in such a way that you won't be able to help but keep turning up the volume. I sift the dust between my fingers and wonder when I last saw the light. It's been a long time since I've wandered the catacombs. I'm an old gravedigger, crushing bones, and when it's your turn, I'll have no mercy. Just like the band that blew my brains out with their new album "Claustrum", buried me alive several times and nailed me to the wall. I always like it when music conjures up a lot of fantasies and illusions. After listening to this record, my terrifying nightmares came back again, I was dancing on my own grave. But mostly I really enjoyed the record and kept coming back to it. Music is a daily companion for me and the Italians were and are very often at the top of my personal playlist. Let it be dark! A dusty exhumation of old death metal graves!
