Chodíš stejnou cestou každý den. Brzy ráno do práce. Město ještě spí a opilci se potácejí ode zdi ke zdi. Smog se míchá s mlhou a v místech, na kterých nesvítí lampy, máš strach. Včera tu našli zohavené tělo. S vyděšeným výrazem ve tváři. S rozpáraným břichem a vytaženými vnitřnostmi. S polámanými kostmi. Někde za rohem číhá přízrak. S lesknoucím se nožem v ruce. Lekáš se každého stínu, ale moc dobře víš, že jsi další na řadě.

Ví to i američtí death metalisté MAUL, kteří letos přicházejí s další porcí syrové a shnilé temnoty. Jakoby měla kapela patent na to, znázornit hudbou děs a špínu. Nové album "In The Jaws of Bereavement" je dalším svědectvím o nekonečném zlu, které se ukrývá v našich myšlenkách. Doporučuji poslouchat v absolutní tmě a chladu.

Na téhle smečce se mi líbí, že není jenom pokračovatelem kapel jako IMMOLATION, INCANTATION, AUTOPSY, CARCASS, BOLT THROWER, TOMB MOLD, OUTER HEAVEN. Naopak, pánové jdou svojí vlastní cestou. Ctí sice klasické, tradiční základy a postupy, ale přidávají i kusy hardcore a hlavně vlastních nápadů a invence. Jedná se samozřejmě o hudbu z toho nejhlubšího podzemí. Ale velmi dobře zahranou, se spoustou zajímavých momentů a atmosférou, která vás zcela pohltí. Sleduji cestu této skupiny již od jejich počátků a užívám si každou nahrávku z jejich stáje. Pokaždé mají dobrý, masivní a surový zvuk (tentokrát je pod ním podepsán Adam Tucker - mixing, mastering). Letos obdivuji i obal od britského umělce, který si říká Wyrmwalk. Zkrátka a dobře, na své si přijdou všichni fanoušci starých pořádků, ale i ti, kteří mají velkou fantazii. Každým dalším poslechem navíc nové album "In The Jaws of Bereavement" roste, stále v něm objevuji nové, do černé zabarvené momenty. Je to jízda od začátku do konce a to rovnou do pekla. Mám neodbytný pocit, že jsem se nakazil nějakou zlou chorobou. Hniju při poslechu postupně uvnitř, rozpadám se na kusy, abych byl nakonec spálen na popel energií a silou, která je z desky cítit. Tohle je hudba do podzemních klubů, do opuštěných katakomb, na pohřebiště i do márnic. Pokaždé, když novinku poslouchám, tak se vydávám do ulic. Město ještě spí a opilci se potácejí ode zdi ke zdi. Temný, děsivý, syrový death metalový rozklad! Hnilobou nasáklá mrtvola s chladným pohledem!

American death metallers MAUL know it too, and this year they come with another helping of raw and rotten darkness. It's as if the band has a patent for depicting horror and filth through music. The new album "In The Jaws of Bereavement" is another testimony to the endless evil that hides in our thoughts. I recommend listening in absolute darkness and cold.

What I like about this pack is that it's not just a continuation of bands like IMMOLATION, INCANTATION, AUTOPSY, CARCASS, BOLT THROWER, TOMB MOLD, OUTER HEAVEN. On the contrary, the gentlemen are going their own way. While they honor the classic, traditional basics and practices, they also add some hardcore and, most importantly, their own ideas and inventiveness. This is of course music from the deepest underground. But very well played, with lots of interesting moments and an atmosphere that will completely engulf you. I have followed the journey of this band since their early days and enjoy every recording from their stable. Each time they have a good, massive and raw sound (this time Adam Tucker is signed to it - mixing, mastering). This year I also admire the cover artwork by a British artist who calls himself Wyrmwalk. In short, all fans of the old order, but also those who have a big imagination, will come into their own. Moreover, with every new listen, the new album "In The Jaws of Bereavement" grows, I keep discovering new black-tinged moments in it. It's a ride from start to finish and straight to hell. I have an insistent feeling that I've contracted some kind of evil disease. I rot gradually inside as I listen, falling to pieces, only to be finally burnt to ashes by the energy and power that can be felt from the record. This is music for underground clubs, abandoned catacombs, burial grounds and morgues. Every time I listen to a new release, I take to the streets. The city is still asleep and drunks stagger from wall to wall. The smog mixes with the fog, and in places where the lamps aren't lit, I'm scared. A ghost lurks around the corner. I'm scared of every shadow, but I know I'm next. Dark, horrifying, raw death metal decay! A rotting corpse with a cold stare!
