Hledal jsem tuhle hrobku dlouhé roky. Pátral jsem v zaprášených archívech, četl jsem starodávné spisy. Měl by v ní být pohřbený kdysi dávno prokletý mnich, o kterém se říkalo, že vládl temnou magií. Odkrývám poslední vrstvu, prohlížím si tajemné a varující symboly. Konečně otevírám rezavou bránu a vstupuji dovnitř. Cítím pach smrti, hnilobu a strach. Mrtvola leží na kamenném oltáři a vypadá, jako by zemřela včera. Ozve se šílený nářek, řev a začne se pomalu rozpadat v prach. Odhalené prašivé kosti, smějící se lebka. V rukou drží nové album německých death metalistů APEP.
I nová, druhá dlouhohrající deska těchto tmářů, je nasáklá temnou historií. Jako bych se při poslechu opravdu ocitl ve staré hrobce, která právě vydala svoje svědectví. Jedná se o chladný, surový death metal ve klasickém stylu, ke kterému jsou velmi umně a elegantně přidávány technické prvky. Výsledkem je jedovatý koktejl, který když ochutnáte, tak zahájíte mrtvolné procesy balzamování.
Posluchače jako první uhodí do obličeje jako vždy nádherný obal od mistra Paolo Girardiho. Potom, když si album pustíte na svém přehrávači, tak budete smeteni zuřivou vichřicí. Zvuk se opravdu povedl. Je masivní, plesnivý a velmi dobře čitelný zároveň. Hlavní jsou ale jako vždy nápady a těch je na albu velké množství. Opravdu se při poslechu procházím nekonečnými chodbami podzemí. V kobkách jsou pochováni prokletí a nemrtví kývají souhlasně hlavou, stejně jako já. Novinka "Before Whom Evil Trembles" je určena přesně pro nás, pro staré death metalové maniaky, stejně jako pro démony, kteří spali dlouhé roky v záhrobí. Kapele se povedlo exhumovat přesně to, co mám na tomhle stylu rád. Základem je temná a chladná atmosféra, ostré riffy. Líbí se mi, že technické a progresivní prvky jsou dávkovány tak akorát. Skladby spíše doplňují, rozvíjejí, než aby se jednalo o nějaká, dnes tolik častá, preludia. Naopak, vše má svůj cíl, místo a smysl. Navíc, a o to mi jde vždy nejvíce, se nová nahrávka "Before Whom Evil Trembles" velmi dobře poslouchá. Je v ní něco neklidného, nebál bych se napsat i melancholického, něco, co mě nutí se neustále vracet, zvyšovat hlasitost a rvát si novinku pod tlakem do hlavy. Pokud byste po mě chtěly nějaká jména kapel, kterými se nechali APEP volně inspirovat, napadají mě MORBID ANGEL, VADER, PESTILENCE a samozřejmě NILE. Nenechte se ale mýlit, Němci nejsou jenom nějakou obyčejnou kopií. Naopak, starodávné motivy nadále rozvíjejí, přidávají k nim svoje vlastní nápady a invenci. Zkrátka a dobře. I mě, starého psa, který hlídá vstup do podsvětí již dlouhé roky, chytli a vymáchali mi ksicht v kaluži plné krve. Vše je ohlodáno na kost, pánové hrají uvěřitelně, upřímně a opravdově. Navíc vám budou vyndány všechny vnitřnosti z těla a budete pohřbeni zaživa. Hledal jsem tuhle hrobku dlouhé roky. Pátral jsem ve starých archívech, četl jsem starodávné spisy. Konečně jsem ji našel. Má nad vchodem nápis APEP a je v ní uloženo děsivé svědectví. Starodávné, mrtvolné ozvěny z hnilobných death metalových hrobek! Démoni se probudili a touží po krvi!

I've been looking for this tomb for years. I've searched dusty archives, read ancient writings. It's supposed to be the burial place of a cursed monk long ago who was said to have wielded dark magic. I peel back the last layer, examining the mysterious and foreboding symbols. Finally, I open the rusty gate and enter. I smell death, rot and fear. A corpse lies on a stone altar, looking as if it died yesterday. There is a mad wail, a scream, and it begins to slowly crumble into dust. Scabby bones exposed, a laughing skull. In her hands, she holds the new album by German death metallers APEP.
Even the new, second full-length album of these obscurantists is soaked in dark history. Listening to it, I really feel like I'm in an old tomb that has just given its testimony. This is cold, raw death metal in the classic style, to which technical elements are very artfully and elegantly added. The result is a poisonous cocktail that, when you taste it, will start the deadly embalming process.
The first thing that hits the listener in the face, as always, is the beautiful cover by the master Paolo Girardi. Then, when you play the album on your player, you will be swept away by a furious whirlwind. The sound is really good. It's massive, musty and very listenable at the same time. But the main thing, as always, are the ideas and there are plenty of them on the album. I really feel like I'm walking through the endless corridors of the underground while listening to it. Curses are buried in the dungeons and the undead nod their heads in agreement, as do I. The new album "Before Whom Evil Trembles" is exactly for us, for old death metal maniacs as well as for demons who slept for many years in the beyond. The band has managed to exhume exactly what I love about this style. The base is dark and cold atmosphere, sharp riffs. I like that the technical and progressive elements are dosed just right. The tracks complement and develop rather than being some kind of prelude, so common nowadays. On the contrary, everything has its purpose, place and meaning. Moreover, and this is always my main concern, the new recording "Before Whom Evil Trembles" is very easy to listen to. There's something restless, I wouldn't be afraid to write melancholic, something that makes me keep coming back, turning up the volume and banging the novelty into my head under pressure. If you ask me for some names of bands that APEP were loosely inspired by, I can think of MORBID ANGEL, VADER, PESTILENCE and of course NILE. But make no mistake, the Germans are not just some ordinary copy. On the contrary, they continue to develop the ancient motifs, adding their own ideas and inventiveness to them. In short. Even I, an old dog who has been guarding the entrance to the underworld for years, was caught and had my face washed out in a pool of blood. It's all gnawed to the bone, and the men are believable, honest and real. Plus, you'll have your guts ripped out and buried alive. I've been looking for this tomb for years. I've searched old archives, read ancient writings. I finally found it. It's got an APEP sign over the entrance, and it holds a terrible testimony. Ancient, dead echoes from rotting death metal tombs! The demons have awakened and are out for blood!
