I cesta může být cílem. Toulám se podsvětím a jako černý stín vyhledávám hudbu, která mě nějakým způsobem osloví, která mě baví, něčím zaujme. Nejsem uzavřený jen do jednoho stylu, baví mě právě ta rozmanitost, pestrost. Sedávám ve svém pokoji a dívám se na město. Mraky jsou zrovna nízko a mě hraje z reproduktorů nové album ukrajinských HELL:ON. Stačilo několik prvních motivů a jsem najednou mimo realitu. Procházím se černým lesem a pozoruji starodávné rituály. Oběť je připravena, kněz zvedá nůž. Záblesk a výkřik.
Letos jsou HELL:ON opět majestátní, vznešení, ale i divocí a mraziví. Jejich nové skladby připomínají spíše symfonie smrti, než jen obyčejné songy. Ihned jsem rád přistoupil na jejich hru a užíval si mocné nálady plné děsivých přeludů. Smrt má mnoho podob a přechod na druhou stranu bývá někdy těžký. Když ale budete poslouchat nové album "Shaman", ocitnete se ihned v zemi přízraků.
Stylově se pánové stále pohybují mezi stejnými mantinely, které kdysi nastavily kapely jako BEHEMOTH, VADER, HATE, SLAYER, BOLT THROWER. Přidávají ale velkou spoustu svých nápadů. Líbí se mi zvuk (Anton Vorozhtsov), obal (Ivan Parkhomenko Art), celková produkce. Mám sice raději více špíny a surovosti, ale jinak jsem spokojený. Hlavní jsou pro mě vždy skladby, způsob, jakým na mě působí. Musí dojít ke vzájemnému přenosu. Musím být zasažený. A to se mi v případě desky "Shaman" stalo. Pánové totiž vše ohlodali až na kost. Základem jsou silné melodie, které mě dokáží doslova strhnout. Rád a často se dívám do tmy a užívám si jednotlivé motivy. Tradiční death metalové prvky se zde potkávají s ostrým thrashem. To vše je potom zabaleno do black metalových pavučin. Výsledkem je koktejl, který když pozřete, tak se ocitnete na starodávném rituálu. Ohně zase jednou hoří jasným, černým plamenem. Živí i nemrtví tančí v divokých rytmech. Na stromech visí kosti poražených. Vše působí naléhavě, opravdově, syrově, stejně jako tohle album. Nálada je podmanivá, pochmurná, mocná. Jako když vstoupíte na hřbitov a všechny hroby jsou v plamenech. Nechte se od HELL:ON pozvat na dlouhý výlet bez konce. Kolem budou ležet vybělené kostry, mrtvoly s vyděšenými tvářemi. Myslím si, že jsem zde správně. Procházím se černým lesem a pozoruji starodávné rituály. Oběť je připravena, kněz zvedá nůž. Záblesk a výkřik. Divoký, temný, black thrash death metalový obřad pro vyvolávání sil z onoho světa!

Even a journey can be a destination. I wander through the underworld and, like a black shadow, I search for music that appeals to me in some way, that entertains me, that catches my attention. I'm not confined to one style, I enjoy the variety, the diversity. I sit in my room and look out over the city. The clouds are just low and the new album of Ukrainian HELL:ON is playing from the speakers. Just the first few motives and I am suddenly out of reality. I walk through the black forest and observe ancient rituals. The sacrifice is ready, the priest raises the knife. A flash and a scream.
This year, HELL:ON are once again majestic, sublime, but also wild and chilling. Their new songs are more like symphonies of death than just ordinary songs. I immediately happily agreed to their playing and enjoyed the powerful mood full of eerie mirages. Death takes many forms and the transition to the other side can be difficult. But when you listen to the new album "Shaman", you will find yourself immediately in the land of phantoms.
Stylistically, the gentlemen are still moving between the same boundaries once set by bands like BEHEMOTH, VADER, HATE, SLAYER, BOLT THROWER. But they add a lot of their own ideas. I like the sound (Anton Vorozhtsov), the cover art (Ivan Parkhomenko Art), the overall production. I prefer more dirt and rawness, but otherwise I'm satisfied. The main thing for me is always the songs, the way they affect me. There has to be a mutual transfer. I have to be affected. And that's what happened to me with "Shaman". The guys chewed everything to the bone. It's based on strong melodies that can literally blow me away. I like and often look into the darkness and enjoy the individual motifs. Traditional death metal elements meet here with sharp thrash. All this is then wrapped in black metal webs. The result is a cocktail that when you devour, you find yourself at an ancient ritual. The fires once again burn with a bright, black flame. The living and the undead dance to wild rhythms. The bones of the slaughtered hang from the trees. Everything feels urgent, real, raw, just like this album. The mood is haunting, sombre, powerful. It's like entering a cemetery and all the graves are on fire. Let HELL:ON take you on a long journey with no end. There will be bleached skeletons lying around, corpses with frightened faces. I think I'm right here. I walk through the black forest and observe ancient rituals. The sacrifice is ready, the priest raises his knife. A flash and a scream. A wild, dark, black thrash death metal ritual to summon the forces of the otherworld!
