Někdy si říkám, jak by bylo na našem světě krásně, kdybychom se zbavili techniky, průmyslu a válek. Měli jsme šanci, kterou jsme propásli. Naše nervy by si zasloužily být obaleny v melounovém cukru. Kdo jste četli knihu od Richarda Brautigana, asi víte, o čem píšu. Osobně jsem se s tímto autorem setkal poprvé při studiích, když byla moje duše rozevlátá a ještě jsem nebyl ohlodán každodenním stereotypem. Je vlastně trošku paradox, že se jí čeští blackeři SOMNIATE inspirovali právě v době, kdy se ke starým beatníkům znovu rád vracím. Svět je někdy krásný a často hrozně divný, řekl jeden špinavý pán, kterého jsem každý den potkával na lavičce u zastávky.
Také se vám někdy stává, že se ráno probudíte a nevíte, jestli jste měli jenom zlý sen a nebo se to dopravdy stalo? Mrazí vás v zádech, když vypluje na povrch vaše podvědomí. Podobné to mám i s touhle deskou. Často jsem s ní chodil ulicemi a přemýšlel, kdo má v sobě temnotu a kdo má obalené nervy melounovým cukrem.
Nikdo nikdy netvrdil, že vám tahle smečka dá něco zadarmo. Pro pochopení jejich hudby musíte mít fantazii, otevřenou mysl a touhu poznávat. Pánové jsou často zařazováni po bok kapel typu FUNERAL MIST, AOSOTH, ABYSSAL, TEMPLE OF BAAL, DEATHSPELL OMEGA, ANTAEUS, VI, GEVURAH. Platí to i letos, jen oceňuji snahu se posouvat dál. Možná to připadá jenom mě, ale jednotlivé motivy jsou přeci jen trošku přehlednější a čitelnější. Osobně se mi velmi líbí zvuk (V. Santura - mastering, mixing, Honza Kapák - engineering), který ještě víc zdůrazňuje naléhavost a "snovost" skladeb. Zmínit musím i zajímavý obal (View from the Coffin, pod kterým se ukrývá Raoul Mazzero). Jedná se o velmi povedený motiv, který si ihned zapamatujete a přesně vyajdřuje to, co se na albu odehrává). Už jste někdy prosévali mezi prsty prach? Dívali jste se do kaleidoskopu? Přemýšleli jste nad tím, jaké křivky vytvoří mávání křídel smrtihlava? S touhle nahrávkou se ocitáme v oblasti filozofie, věčnosti i smrti. Novinka je o podivných snech, skvěle zahraná, se spoustou zajímavých nápadů. Někdy bolí, někdy žhne a pálí, zároveň je chladná jako děsivá noční můra. Záleží jen na vás, jak jí budete vnímat. SOMNIATE se povedlo nahrát hudbu, která ve vás vyvolá spoustu představ, nálad v různých barvách. Pravděpodobně ji nepochopí každý, ale to není ani účelem. Je to magie? Je to ozvěna z jiné dimenze? Je to podivný stav mysli? Posuďte sami. Magický black metal, ve kterém se potkává krutá realita se snovou iluzí!

Sometimes I think how beautiful our world would be if we got rid of technology, industry and wars. We had a chance that we missed. Our nerves deserve to be coated in watermelon sugar. If you've read Richard Brautigan's book, you probably know what I'm writing about. Personally, I first met this author when I was in college, when my soul was unraveling and I hadn't yet been gnawed by the daily stereotype. It's actually a bit of a paradox that Czech blackers SOMNIATE were inspired by it at a time when I like to revisit the old beatniks. The world is sometimes beautiful and often terribly strange, said a dirty gentleman I used to meet every day on a bus stop bench.
Also, do you ever wake up in the morning and not know if you just had a bad dream or if it just happened? You get chills when your subconscious comes to the surface. It's the same with this record. I've often walked the streets with it, wondering who has darkness inside them and who has watermelon sugar coated nerves.
Nobody ever said this band would give you anything for free. To understand their music, you have to have an imagination, an open mind and a desire to explore. The gents are often placed alongside bands like FUNERAL MIST, AOSOTH, ABYSSAL, TEMPLE OF BAAL, DEATHSPELL OMEGA, ANTAEUS, VI, GEVURAH. It's true this year too, I just appreciate the effort to push themselves further. Maybe it's just me, but the individual themes are a bit clearer and more readable after all. Personally, I really like the sound (V. Santura - mastering, mixing, Honza Kapák - engineering), which emphasizes the urgency and "dreaminess" of the songs even more. I must also mention the interesting cover (View from the Coffin, under which Raoul Mazzero hides). It is a very hilarious motif that you immediately remember and it shows exactly what is happening on the album). Have you ever sifted the dust between your fingers? Have you looked into a kaleidoscope? Have you wondered what curves the flapping wings of a death's head will create? With this recording we find ourselves in the realm of philosophy, eternity and death. The new record is about strange dreams, well played, with lots of interesting ideas. Sometimes it hurts, sometimes it glows and burns, at the same time it is as cold as a terrifying nightmare. It's up to you how you perceive it. SOMNIATE has managed to record music that evokes a lot of ideas, moods in different colours. Probably not everybody will understand it, but that's not the purpose either. Is it magic? Is it an echo from another dimension? Is it a strange state of mind? Judge for yourself. Magical black metal where harsh reality meets dreamlike illusion!
