Dívám se do tmy přes popraskané sklo. Lidská mysl bývá někdy pokřivená a zlá. Rozmlouvám s dušemi prokletých a ony si stěžují, že nikdy nenajdou klid. Budou se navěky toulat mezi naším a oním světem. Jako dlouhé stíny, přízraky. Spravedlnost neexistuje. Oběti si v sobě nesou bolest i po smrti. Krvavá mlha nad hřbitovem, už zase rozmlouvám s nemrtvými. Poslouchám totiž novou desku, debut, chorvatských maniaků METUZALEM.
Doom metal a smrt, ve vzájemné symbióze. Velmi dobře ošetřený zvuk, čitelné nástroje, zřetelný vokál, spousta temné energie a tlaku. Songy v sobě mají vnitřní pnutí, baví mě je poslouchat. Našlapuji tiše, abych nenarušil mrtvolnou náladu desky.
"Infra" je albem, které je volně inspirováno kapelami jako MY DYING BRIDE, PARADISE LOST, ANATHEMA, případně v rychlejších pasážích ASPHYX, BENEDICTION, BOLT THROWER. Nahrávku jsem si poprvé pustil opravdu v momentě, když jsem procházel kolem hřbitovní zdi. Měl jsem pocit, že jsem mezi skladbami slyšel šepot z márnice. Líbí se mi, že si pánové dali pozor na formální věci, jako je zvuk a obal, ale nezapomněli ani na nápady, kterých je na nahrávce velmi mnoho. A jsou zajímavé, syrové, chladné. Jakoby mě METUZALEM zavřeli do staré kobky a nechali mě tam pokaždé hnít. Jsem rád, že se ke mě "Infra" dostala na recenzi, jinak bych byl ochuzen o skvělý zážitek. Je hodně znát, že jsou pod touhle kapelou podepsáni zkušení muzikanti, kteří umí napsat dobrý song. Houpu se do rytmu, našlapuji tiše, jsem před podobnou dobrou hudbou vždy pokorný. Pokud mi totiž pronikne do žil, stane se mojí součástí. Stačilo několik společných setkání a stal jsem se sám přízrakem, démonem, který každý den uléhal ráno do dřevěné rakve. Těšil jsem se, až bude zase tma, až zapnu svůj přehrávač a vydáme se na dlouhý výlet bez konce. Dívám se do tmy přes popraskané sklo. Lidská mysl bývá někdy pokřivená a zlá. Doom metal and death, in mutual symbiosis. Very well treated sound, clear instruments, clear vocals, lots of dark energy and pressure. The songs have an inner tension, I enjoy listening to them. I tread softly so as not to disturb the deadpan mood of the record.
"Infra" is an album that is loosely inspired by bands like MY DYING BRIDE, PARADISE LOST, ANATHEMA, or in faster passages ASPHYX, BENEDICTION, BOLT THROWER. The first time I really listened to the record was when I was walking past the cemetery wall. I had the feeling I could hear whispers from the morgue between songs. I like that the gentlemen paid attention to formal things like sound and cover art, but they didn't forget the ideas, which are very many on the record. And they are interesting, raw, cool. It's like METUZALEM locked me in an old dungeon and left me there to rot every time. I'm glad that "Infra" reached me for review, otherwise I would have been deprived of a great experience. You can tell a lot that this band is signed by experienced musicians who know how to write a good song. I sway to the beat, I tread quietly, I am always humbled by good music like this. Because if it gets into my veins, it becomes a part of me. A few encounters together and I became a ghost myself, a demon who lay down every morning in a wooden coffin. I looked forward to darkness again, to turning on my player and going on a long trip with no end in sight. I stare into the darkness through the cracked glass. The human mind can be twisted and evil. I talk to the souls of the damned and they complain that they never find peace. They will forever wander between our world and the next. Like long shadows, ghosts. They will emerge from the fog and drag you down into the depths. Like this album. A doom death metal ritual for summoning dark, evil forces!
